I think you took what people said (even I) to the extreme. I said and still say that he will never be a guy in which we rely on for big minutes. He will get PT in blow out games and nothing more.
And that is how it should be. He is a walk on. It is great to have quality walk ons
Not sure what you have against walk-ons. You do know that walk-ons have made it to the NBA right?? I hope he proves you wrong.
I dont think he is ripping the kid he just realizes it is a long shot for him at this point.
Maybe you didn't say he wouldn't, but a lot of people on here did. And how many Iowa High School basketball players have played 1 second on a D1 team. The people who said this were still flat out wrong. The level of competition has nothing to do with the team he is playing ON.
He should be aware of what absolutist statements look like. It looks negative, and there is no need to be negative.
Lots of things don't happen like they are "supposed to." Top prospects will be busts, and there will be diamonds in the rough.
I think that he'll only get PT in blow outs this year (if he doesn't redshirt) and next year. But I could easily see him getting major minutes as an upperclassman.
Leave the guy alone..from what I've heard he is a stand up guy and at least he is on the roster at a d1 school. That is a lot more than most of us on here can say.
How does my comment come off as me being against walk-ons? I am simply stating facts. I love walk-ons and think they are extremely important to the success of a team with how hard they compete in practice.
With that said this isn't the 80's anymore. Walk-ons don't go to the NBA and 95% of the time they never see meaningful PT in major college basketball. That's just the way it is. Times change. AAU ball and recruited is much bigger and kids don't go unnoticed like they used to

I know you probably aren't trying to be negative, but just think about the way your declarations might be perceived... players see this stuff. That is all.

Do some research before you call me out for doing nothing more than stating a fact. I am in no way ripping Bubu or walk ons. Like I have said 3 times I love walk ons and their importance on a team. We had walk ons playing the last couple years so people here thing it is the norm....IT IS NOT
Also since you are calling me out, please tell me the last walk on to make it in the NBA.

I think the kid is good... Maybe not starting material or major minute person. Maybe some day. Look at Haluska. Really hope we don't need to rely on him though. I hope we have great players and the walk ons can get time at the end of the game...
That said... I think Dorr has more upside.. The kid has a motor and he after watching him 3 years in Norwalk, I can tell you he will only work harder and harder.

Having solid walkons is bigger to a team than just minutes on the floor. These are the guys that will push the starters everyday in practice. The fact that we were able to bring in guys like Palo and Dorr will make the starters that much better and won't have to rely on gametime to get experience.
This is extremely shortsighted, as are those who are saying that Bubu will only get garbage minutes EVER in his college career at ISU. He is a year young for his class, so technically he should still be playing with Harrison's grade but he skipped a grade as a younger kid. Both Downs and Mcdermott (whose opinion I value more than ANY poster on this board) have said that had he not skipped a grade and played with his class he likely would've been a mid D-1 offer or higher.
Plus, I don't think there is a single person on the current staff who would agree with the statement "Bubu will not make a significant contribution to ISU basketball through playing substantial minutes over the next 5 years (they plan on redshirting him)", so I find it very puzzling to see how some of you seem so sure of it. The idea that in modern recruiting talent is impossible to go under the radar is silly, how does Stephon Curry end up in the Missouri Valley?
