So it's on Leath?

A student, student/campus organization, or the complainant may request that the President review the final decision of the Appellate Officer. The President has discretionary authority to grant or deny the request. See Section 3.2. When the President decides to review the decision of the Appellate Officer, the President's decision becomes the final decision of the university.

I'm sure we'll find out the Rag has probably already filed an open records request to get everything so they can drag it out until basketball season starts.

There wasn't enough evidence to pursue rape charges. That doesn't mean other things didn't happen that violated the student conduct code.

The timing of his dismissal is really baffling! This was from a fallout from the alleged sexual abuse case from last season?! Why wasn't he dismisses last season if he violated the code of conduct? Something is rotten in Denmark fellas!

Because it's taken awhile to process the appeal???

There wasn't evidence because if I remember correctly they found the other party had planted what evidence they did find. Either way, he might not have been a huge scorer but he didn't make many mistaked and had a big presence when he was in. Going to hurt a little.

Bubu played solid defense, and showed flashes of brilliance at the offensive side of the floor, but wasn't an outstanding player.
This most definitely gives Monte Morris, and Naz Long more minutes this season which is good. We were very deep at guard anyways..

"An unidentified person or agency appealed the decision that allowed the former Ames High School basketball player back on the team. The University’s Office of Judicial Affairs handled the appeal."

Until prove otherwise, I think it was Bill Self.

Eh, there are things that are more important than basketball. While prosecutors may not have had the evidence to convict him in court its pretty clear he did something wrong somewhere.

Good for ISU sticking up for its principals and showing that all students must obey the code of conduct. Rape isn't a second chance kind of thing in my opinion. Their obligation to the 30000+ students who attend the university is far greater than their obligation to the dozen guys on the basketball team and the fans.

Rape should be a zero tolerance issue and if there is evidence to prove he did something wrong it should not matter to ISU whether that evidence is enough for prosecution/conviction in a court of law. The prevalent blame the victim rape culture that exists in society these days is wrong and I commend ISU for making a stance against it.

And of course the people complaining about this as ISU fans would most likely be demanding a KU player get the boot if one of their players was in the same situation, regardless of what happened in court.

I'm not a Bubu fan, but something doesn't pass the smell test here. I'm not unhappy he isn't on the team...but this surely isn't how I wanted to see it go down. He went through hell and came out the other side.

What a strange decision.

While this sucks for next year, it could be a blessing in disguise for the 2014 season as it will give Monte Morris a chance for a lot more minutes this season.

This is probably the more logical response. Yeah, he wasn't convicted of rape but per code of conduct he did do something bad enough to warrant being removed from team.
