From what I recall the police covered it up as well.
IIRC, there was a dirty lineman that played for Boise. He was either kicked off/transferred.
Peterson told Briles to not take him because he is a POS. Briles did, then rape stories came out.
Can't say I like the prospect of Briles back in the Big 12, let alone any collegiate institution. If these dots connect that would be a bold and odd hire by Wells.
Wells is an offensive mind himself. Why bring in someone from the old guard with so much baggage, and (presumably) a strong desire for autonomy over the offense? This would kinda reek of Rhoads desperation hire of Mangino.
There were rumors that TTU was planning to fire Wells and there was booster support to hire Briles. Briles to Liberty makes more sense if Freeze moves back up (the AD was at Baylor during the lawless Briles tenure...)
Something not talked about that I've been wondering. Sark probably leaves Alabama after this year, there is nothing else to prove on his rehabilitation stint there. Would Saban look at Briles?
Briles to Liberty is so on-brand for Liberty. It's a perfect fit for both of them.

I didn't dive deep into it but I think TTU hired a private law firm to look at the Baylor case and give a report on Briles involvement. The problem is, he was bringing in known abusers. I mean, even if he was somehow unaware of all the coverup stuff (he obviously was) he was letting these guys come to campus.
The guy shouldn't ever see the sideline again, but he will, just like a bunch of coaches at PSU, LSU, and MSU. We have elevated sports beyond where they should actually be in society.
