Briles to Tech?...

Chris Beard has been a great hire...but overall, seems like they've become the ultimate re-tread landing spot for coaches in an odd way...Tommy T, Tubby, Knight, etc.

Yep, they sure don't seem to care much about character given that track record.

A warning sign for Tech with those though- the track record there isnt great for actual results. Bob Knight's run at Tech was rather mediocre, and Gillispie didn't even get 2 seasons.

Art Briles is a great coach and needs a chance for redemption. Hope he has learnt his lesson.

umm no. He allowed players to rape coeds and did nothing. Thereis a huge difference between someone who broke a few rules like Kelvin Sampson getting another chance . Then you have a guy like Briles. If Tech hired him and my daughter went to school at Tech I would immedialty pull her from school. That would just be them saying we don’t care about girls at our school and football matters more to us than people who allow rape.

Man, I feel like the backlash to Briles from the greater college football world would be massive.

I wonder if they would hire Kendal Briles instead, and Art could be brought on in some analyst role but still let him be more involved than he deserves to be.

Lubbock is in the middle of nowhere, pretty much New Mexico and not close to Dallas, San Antonio, or Houston. How would you like to have the conversation with your wife that we are moving the family to Lubbock? I mean at least Waco is in the middle of all those cities.

I have a friend who is a huge Tech guy. Its a strange fanbase. They think they should be a top 5 team, like, all the time. They don't understand why they aren't. It's like they can't recognize the difference between Texas and Texas Tech. So they rationalize it is all the coaches fault, all the time, and they have zero patience. It's like, win 10 games your first year, and every year, is the expectation. He has never expressed anything resembling patience for a guy to get things his way and fix them. They just think the right coach is a magic switch to excellence.

It's not the same as Husker or Longhorn delusion either, not entitlement. It's just more like... a complete lack of patience, like going 10-2 is easier than 6-6. Just very different.

That's a lack of awareness.

Leach consistently won 7-9 games, and had one special year in 2008 where they went 11-2 and spent some time in the top 10. That's their ceiling.

I remember the game under Rhoads where Briles and Baylor beat Iowa State 73-14.

I don't ever, and I mean ever want to see him coach in the league again. He would have them humming and ranked by year 2. He would quickly be getting some of the best WR and QB prospects in the state of Texas.

That sounds similar to half the people on this board.
