Bowl Hope

If we win 3 of the last 5, Rhoads will have 4 Big 12 wins for the first time ever. And two losses in the non-con to what might end up being teams with a combined record of 24-0 (even if they are both MAC quality) is not earth shattering. I have consistently wanted Rhoads to go but thought that 5-7 would and should save him. My mind has not changed on that

My thing is, if we go 5-7, we can pretty much blame some horrid play-calling, horrid preparation and a horrid coaching decision as to why we are not going to a bowl game. I would actually be more upset if we went 5-7 then I would be if we went 4-8 or 3-9.

But look, we'll actually go to a bowl at 5-7 this year! :jimlad:

According to bringmagicback, we are gonna be bowl bound. We are actually somehow closer now a after our loss Saturday

If we win 3 more games CPR isn't going anywhere. I don't think that we're in too much danger of that happening, sadly. The team is good enough, I'm not sure about the coaches.

It would be really embarrassing to go to a bowl game with a 5-7 record.
Why? And if there is a reason for it to be embarrassing why would you care what other people think anyway. I would love to get to see the team play a bonus game regardless of who it was against. The bonus practices for the players would be a plus too.

The horrid play calling and horrid coaching decisions would be gone is the point. I don't think that this is going to matter, but I look at it this way. Before today I would have said that he needs five minimum and it depends on how the program feels. Now I would say he needs four minimum and it depends on how the program feels. I think Mangino is a good coach and probably even better than Rhoads, but he was trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Now I don't know that we would have won any more games so far, but I feel we would have been better off had we not been following Mangino.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think we are looking at a new team from now on. When we started the season we needed a 5-7 record or .411 winning percentage. Now with a different direction we need 2-3 or .400 winning percentage. Obviously it hurts that we didn't beat Iowa and Toledo because we could have beaten both of them, but we have to look at the two parts of the season separately.

Guess I never saw much difference between Mess or mark calling the game except for the last two weeks. Hrman did not handle the red zone that well. Not sure how he was promoted to OSU.

I'll take a bowl any way I can get it. And I will be there (unless it is between 12/15 and 12/23 because I'll be in mexico).

I'm pretty sure if we get 3 wins we will keep CPR. Remember Jaime wants to see progress and 3 wins this season > 2 wins last season. Progress!!!!!!

More proof that if the Clones SOMEHOW win 2 of the remaining 5 games, that's PROGRESS, and JP the Salesman will convince everyone that Paul deserves another year of living next door to the A.D......and if anyone disagrees, he'll challenge them to come up with the $4+ million buyout.

I feel like if we end up at 5-7 we should be in the playoff. This would be the single greatest under .500 season in the history of sports. Not gonna happen but **** it. Bring on the New Mexico bowl. Lol.

We had to play Iowa in a year they're top 10 (granted that's inflated with their schedule but still they are solid whether you wanna admit it or not). We had to play Toledo (undefeated and ranked now). We had to play Okie State, OU, TCU, and Baylor.....yeah if we go 5-7 you damn well better be pleased with that.

If ISU went 5-7 and was invited to a bowl game, I'd say fine. The extra few weeks of practice for the starters next year won't hurt. I do think it would be an embarrassment to college football to have losing teams going, but ISU needs all the help they can get preparing for next season if this staff is coming back.

5-7 to a bowl? that is the equivalent of a participation trophy.

I would take a 5-7 bowl game this season because it would mean that we won 4 conference games, as opposed to our 6-6 bowl games where we could only win 3.

Please note that I said THIS SEASON before you go about saying that I accept mediocrity from the football program.

I wouldn't say slim...likely no...but each of those are winnable games.

what are the odds to win each game? Let's be generous and say 50% for each game. If my math is right that means there's about a 12% chance they win all three. I don't know what your idea of slim is, but I'd say that qualifies.

AISCHG will tease us with one more win but ain’t gonna let us have more. Our time in the wilderness is not over.
