***Bowl Games Thread***

I think by rule it is targeting and is an ejection.... but the rule is beyond stupid.

These coaches HAVE to teach these kids how to tackle correctly or they will continue to have their players ejected all the time. You simply cannot lower your head and use it as a weapon. You need to keep it up and see what you are tackling. I think in that sense I hope the rule works and does end the lowering of the head with intent to injure. I cannot stand how poor the tackling technique has become.

However... ejecting players is dumb. It affects the outcome of the game too much. Maybe it should take two targeting calls in a game to get thrown out? Maybe you should have to sit for the rest of the quarter or something?

And what about when a runner on offense lowers their head? That is just as dangerous and should be called the same way if safety is the concern.

Clemson kid should be thanking his lucky stars he isn't paralyzed right now dipping his head like that. Unreal. Hard to even watch.

Should be an unsportsman penalty. Get a second and your gone.

the committee or ESPN never once mention that since OU got Stevenson and Perkins eligible, they are undefeated, including beating us, a team that beat them prior without those guys. That's tangible evidence that they improved and were a different type of team than that one that lost two early games. The "experts" never brought those factors into the debate.
Agreed. I think OU was still being penalized for being curb stomped by LSU.

I think it was very obvious Jeremy was talking about on a national level. The Going Camping in My RV Camper Bowl isn’t considered the national stage.
Well gee - OU made the CFP last year - and earlier beat ISU by a single point.
ISU was not even in the game against ND.

Dude you are completely on the wrong path with your interpretations of my posts. We can both lose to a team and that program not being nearly as mighty as they think of themselves.

Big Ten Pride!

A team that played more than half a season and played someone good.

Do you think it helps a team physically to only have to play half a season versus an entire season of getting beat up week after week?

Why were teams allowed to miss games this year? Covid, right? So what if we still have Covid next season...... tOSU will have set the precedent that it's in your best interest to play as few games as possible and play a weak schedule.... then you can still get in. But only if you are a blue blood program. Had ISU went 6-0 this season and beat basically nobody, we'd have ZERO chance of making the playoff.

The entire system is stupid. You can look at this game tonight and say tOSU belonged..... sure..... but you can then also say that ND had no business whatsoever being in.... and maybe Clemson too right? It's just stupid.

I just think ND is very good - not to the level of a Bama or Clemson or OSU - but damn good - and certainly way above the two programs you just compared them to: Texas and Michigan.

And people want a 12 or 16-team playoff? There are the couple of haves and the rest are have nots in the end. It will get to an 8-team playoff, but man there are going to be a bunch of bloodbaths in that with the 7 and 8 seeds. We already usually get at least one every year in the Semifinals, and this year it may be both games.

Who woulda thought having your oline basically play scrimmages most of the season while they stay healthy and rested and working out all season would be helpful....
