Bowl Game

Tired of explaining why its all but assured that we are in the Big 12 Championship.

Worst case scenario for bowl game should be Alamo against USC or Washington, right?
Best case scenario (realistically) is Cotton bowl against Texas A&M or Florida?
Could ISU opt out of a bowl invite? BC says"....... We decided the biggest reward we could give these players was to be able to go and let them finish finals and go spend time with their families. They've earned it, and they deserve it."

BC is 6-5, a record that not long ago wouldn't get you a bowl anyway. Without all the perks of a bowl week, probably not worth it to some on the team. If you want to see a bunch of pissed off players though, have someone who has had a good season opt out, You think those players work that hard all year to say, no I'm good. This is just a symptom of there being too many participation trophy bowls. Football is fun to play, especially when you are winning. I wish I had 10 times the talent so I could have walked on a 2 win ISU team when I was in school just to experience it.

In BC's case, not accepting a toilet bowl and spending Christmas with family makes all the sense in the world.

ISU is having their best season ever and quite possibly going to have their best bowl ever against another ranked team. They also have high hopes for next season. I don't see anyway isu skips bowl season.

With Florida's loss yesterday, does that lock ISU in to a NY's 6 bowl? I would think even with a close loss to OU next Saturday Iowa State would get selected by a NY's 6.

Assuming Bama beats Florida next weekend.

Pollard would lose a lot of good will within the fanbase if they turned down a bowl bid. It won't happen.

Yeah, I can just see it now. "Well, it's an honor to be invited to play in the Cotton Bowl, but dog gonnit, our boys just want to spend Christmas with Mommy and Daddy so we are going to have to decline"

The only “lock” for anything is if we beat OU first. I’m not jumping to any conclusions past that, it’s a big enough hill to climb.

This is whole thing brings up a greater point. Which is assuming we win Big 12 Championship and play in a bowl; does ISU administration allow the players time to go home and just unwind? They have basically been in a bubble since July, so not only physically but mentally drained. To have to start spring semester and then start right back with winter workouts would just be a lot without some extended break. Just a thought.

The bowl game would be a little over a week out so they would get to go home after the game. There is still about three weeks until class after the first.

It wouldn’t surprise me if there are quite a few bowl dropouts.

With the current situation people are really questioning sending large groups across the country.

With no or few fans the fan tourism is sort of out the window as well.

Nebraska, get ready.
