I'd be thrilled with Memphis. It was a good time last time. Iowa State can own Beale Street. You can drive there for a couple hundred bucks vs. $600 plane tickets to Orlando or Phoenix.

I'd prefer Orlando and, hell, I still think we have a shot at it. Are they going to give it to West Virginia again?

I believe the bowls can only skip around in order by one game. So a 5-4 team could go over a 6-3 team, but a 4-5 team could not. I could be wrong on this, but I think it's close.

I also think the only way the Big 12 gets an additional NY6 bowl is if TCU beats OU.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Playoff - OU
Alamo - TCU (instate and OSU went last year)
Camping - OSU
Texas Bowl - Texas
Liberty - WVU
Cactus - ISU
Heart of Dallas - KSU
At-large - Tech

Yeah, the Son of God rising from the dead is a "weak ass excuse" to celebrate.....got it.

You do realize you can celebrate any time, right? Tell your parents you want Christmas the weekend before. Tell your in-laws you'll visit on January 1. Find a church in Phoenix if that is your thing. Tell your kids Santa finds you wherever you are. And the son of god doesn't rise from the dead until spring. He's born at Christmas.

I've never understood people that are so hell bent on celebrating holidays so rigidly. My favorite Christmas was spent in New Orleans with my family. No one died because we weren't at home. My second favorite Christmas was spent in airports on my way to England to go to my goddaughters baptism. Last year I celebrated with my sisters in San Diego. If we are in Phoenix, I sure as hell hope I'm there celebrating Christmas.

Thanks to fsanford for posting this (this is a relatively new Bowl Partner agreement):

From the Big 12 site
Big 12 Bowl Partners
Once the CFP has filled its bowl slots, Big 12 bowl partners will make selections from the remaining bowl eligible teams. Following is the order of selection. A bowl may pick from any available teams when it reaches its spot in the selection order.
Valero Alamo
Camping World
AdvoCare V100 Texas
AutoZone Liberty
Cactus
Zaxby's Heart of Dallas

Despite common misconceptions to the contrary, the bowl pecking order is no more outside the CFP pairings. Bowls go in a specific order but can pick any eligible team and not restricted based on league standing.

And the Cactus Bowl is projected for Oregon from Pac12... I'm not used to thinking of that as an "opportunity" instead of "something to avoid"

If Oklahoma gets into the CFB playoffs, I think we get the Heart of Dallas bowl game. The weird thing about that is they go against the 8th place Big Ten team... which is Iowa. I really hope that doesn't happen.
Won't happen, even if we fell all the way to the Heart of Dallas (unlikely) the Big 10 doesn't have enough eligible teams to fill that bowl with Wisconsin, Penn St and Ohio St in NY6 bowls, so that would be an at-large opponent.

I honestly think there is no way this happens. If it does, I think we would probably win, however I fear a repeat of the Liberty Bowl and the letdown that game was

Things will get really interesting if TCU is not selected for New Year’s Six. I could see us falling all the way to Cactus or At-Large depending on what the Texas Bowl wants. It would be a travesty, but I could see the Longhorns jumping all the 7-5 teams to play in Houston. Also, if Snyder announces his retirement in the next week, he will screw us one last time as all of a sudden their bowl game becomes more attractive to TV.

I'd love to see us take on Notre Dame in the Camping World Bowl. Need TCU in NY6. Camping World gets 1st pick of ACC (inclusive of Notre Dame) outside of NY6.

I want nothing to do with playing ND in a bowl game....nothing.

And we will not be playing in the Heart of Dallas bowl. Zero chance..Zero.

Camping, Liberty, Cactus....Those are our 3 options. Just because Okie st finished one spot ahead of us and they are ranked doesnt mean Camping will just swoop them up. It is about selling tickets and fan excitement to make $$ for these bowls...Period.

If anyone thinks Okie st or WV will be bringing 20k+ fans to any of these bowls i got news for ya...

Heck the Alamo could just tell Bowlsby...Too bad we are selecting ISU. Like others have said once NY6 is decided the bowls get to choose anyone they want.

Agree, Kstate has poor bowl attendance compared to others. Why they seem to drop on the list. Okie state is up and down, mostly down compared to us. Interesting when I had a Kstate fan talk to me before the game and asked where I thought we were headed. I said win- camping, lose- liberty. They thought they were sure they were liberty if they won. The attendance at their stadium wasn't that impreessive imo if you pull out the red that was all over and for the size of the stadium.

I will say that they forgot to add restrooms on their stadium improvement

Thanksgiving weekend. The only seats open were in the student sections. Iowa State brought the most opposing fans I've seen there all season but I wouldn't exactly call it poor attendance.

Iowa State had their contingent in the Se corner, besides that I saw 2 or 3 redshirts in every section.
