Bowl Game Projections

Thanksgiving weekend. The only seats open were in the student sections. Iowa State brought the most opposing fans I've seen there all season but I wouldn't exactly call it poor attendance.

Iowa State had their contingent in the Se corner, besides that I saw 2 or 3 redshirts in every section.
You didn't look real hard then. The upper deck was loaded along with many in the non student section on the east side. ISU has 50k as a base and that includes Kansas where they bring about 5 fans. That would overflow the stadium.

There were also many seats open as I looked around. Nearly a whole row behind us and some huge gaps Infront and to the sections over.

I’d like jump on the bandwagon of “we are more attractive than everyone else because of the number of fans that will travel”. That appeared to help us in 2009 after a bowl drought, so I think I’m on the bandwagon.

But we said the same thing in 2011 (new era) and then again in 2012 (at large).

What do we have going for us this year? Coming off of bowl drought and 7-5 vs 6-6.

Playoff - OU
Alamo - TCU (instate and OSU went last year)
Camping - OSU (3rd place - best remaining team)
Texas Bowl - Texas (in state, biggest name)
Liberty - KSU (WVU played lay year, Snyder's final game?)
Cactus - WVU (bigger national name)
Heart of Dallas - ISU vs. Marshall
At-large - Tech

You all can argue the merits of ISU being an attractive choice or not but it's up to the bowl to figure that out, not the final record although that plays to selling a game as a national TV interest. They are going to weigh the TV attractiveness and national interest of the matchup as much or more then who will bring a bunch of fans. Our best shot at a good locale is a match against a "name" with us adding some fans and local rev. We are way less interesting on the national level than we were a month ago after the big wins and then kinda stumbling in with a so so offense to finish. We all love the team and all but objectively how do you sell interest to non Big 12 fans or casual TV fans?

Well all of these projectors aren’t out to get us. TCU will do Alamo or Camping. OKie State gets other. Texas gets Texas because their Texas. West Virginia or Kstate to Liberty or Cactus. Leaving us or Tech for Dallas...and yes I am being pessimistic

You did OSU twice.

We will be in Liberty over KSU. They just went there last year.

It was auto correct on my phone changing it from ksu to OSU because apparently even the auto correct had an erection for Ohio State. I corrected it. I thought WVU went to liberty last year, but if it was ksu then liberty will take ISU I agree. They know they'll get far more attendance from cyclone nation than west Virginia.

Basically it'll come down to whether TCU is ranked ahead of Notre Dame and the loser of the Pac 12 championship in the final rankings. If we want a shot at Orlando, pull for TCU to win or have a good showing and for USC to beat Stanford.

Once again the Big 12 (and B.B. the hok ) will become involved in the selection process and screw Iowa State

Don’t be ridiculous. Liberty wants us back Andy Cactus would take us way before they take WVU. Our fans travel and both those bowl committees know that.
