Oklahoma wants 12 teams. I don't blame them.

Having read his comments. This doesn't seem to be much of a story.

Luckily everyone is stuck for 8 more years and by then the Market will determine what the fate of the Big 12 is.

By then an awful lot of schools are going to be tired of playing cream puff division teams and no marquee games.

If you really want to keep the Big 12 strong you keep your mouth shut in the media about keeping your options open. Everyone who matters if you leave already know that anyway. Talking about it only makes the league weaker.

He tried so hard. With a few months of silence, I had just assumed he was dead in his home and nobody had called in a welfare check.

Boren would be perfect in the Trump administration.

That is pretty much what his end game has been for the past few years.

There is no way to know now, but IMO Boren would have been stirring the pot about realignment again quite a bit earlier than this had he not blown a bunch of political capital on his education funding measure that went down to defeat last November.

Boren is 76. If he doesn't retire by 2020 I'm going to be a little worried.

Love how everyone's ignoring the main point of Boren's dissatisfaction - which has never wavered - the Big 12 schools caving in to Texas and letting them have their own network. If OU leaves, it's the Big 12's own fault. No conference network. Posters can rip Boren, but without the Sooners, we're toast.

He's right. The conference missed the boat there. No doubt.

But that horse already left the barn. The ACC Network is still just a concept and the PAC 12 Network is a bust.

    Forward, Boren! Think future!

OU can have their own network too. If ISU can do it, OU sure as hell can.

OU made $40 million for the Big 12 by playing in the Sugar Bowl last year. The year before they were in the playoff. That's big bucks for the conference. I'm sure Pollard cashed our check from them.
Maybe we should worship OU like we have Texas...

Lets just be honest here. The last few summers during the "dead period" realignment talk has generated a lot of buzz. Lots of buzz = website traffic. Thus ESPN wanting to stir things up with Paul F and his recent comments about Oklahoma. ESPN knows any realignment media they produce will get eaten up and drive hits.

As an ISU fan who isn't looking for membership in the AAC I would say it's in our best interest to keep Boomer and the Cows as happy as possible.

The Big 12 Network is dead. Move to the future

Sure they can. That's fine. But OU wants a conference network. Or they might look elsewhere.
Do you tell them, "there's the door"? Please.

Why would anybody dream of another Longhorn Network considering what a loser that is for ESPN, how much ESPN is losing, and how little appetite there would be for it? I think OU missed the bus and is stuck in a "TV $ = all" mindset.

A tidal wave is going to hit the sport when the current TV deals are up.

No idea what happens then. My fantasy is a more common purpose and restoration of more sensible, geographical, and historical conferences, at least. Being able to drive to Lincoln and Minneapolis for conference games from Ames would be a dream.

How can ESPN with their financial difficulties keep the Longhorn Network alive? Do they have some kind of ironclad contract? That thing cannot be making money.
