I just finished the first book of the Kingkiller Chronicles, Name of the Wind, by Patrick Rothfuss. It is arguably the best fantasy novel I have ever read. I'm excited for the rest of the series.
Reading this now and enjoying it.

Devil in the White City by Erik Larsen (sp?). You'll never forget it.
If you just like pictures, Wisconsin Death Trip is unforgettable.
I think you'd also like The Broken Empire series (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VZJ3QGK/ref=series_rw_dp_sw)

There are a lot of good books listed already...but if you like classic books try Alexandre Dumas. His books are great reads. I'd start with The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. If you like those, there are plenty more (The Man in the Iron Mask, etc.).

If you like economic and financial matters, Michael Lewis' books are tough to put down. The Big Short, Liar's Poker, Flash Boys, Panic... and so on.
