Blum: Breece vs. Troy

Mac chose the South end zone because he thought those of us sitting there could make a lot of noise on the metal bleachers and gain an advantage for his team. That is what he said after the game.

No, I'm refuting your claim that Iowa State chose to take the ball after winning the toss.

Sorry, poorly worded on my part. I should have said Danny Mac decided not to take D (which is the standard). Essentially means you're on offense. Unless, of course, the opposing coach is just as bad with OT strategy.

MATH 266 is a prerequisite to join this forum.

MATH 414 recommended.

I might be the only person of my era that graduated from ISU without Speech 211. Landscape Architect curriculum one year had a misprint with a speech elective rather than 211 so I jumped on that and took History of Motion Pictures and Cinematography which was a speech class. WTF. If I guy can get out of 211 he can get out of math, and I did.

Make that two of us. I transferred in Korean 101 - which qualified as my Communication Requirement, since I took Spanish for my foreign language requirement.

It's Troy by a mile! I attended the Ohio Donut Bowl and UNLV Games in 1995 before I moved from Iowa and returned for the 1996 Mizzou Game! Man, oh, man, at the UNLV Game on 3rd and forever, I told my buddy "Give it to Troy and see what happens." He scored a TD!

I really miss listening to Pete Taylor call the games on the radio. I would sit up on my roof and listen to the games and loved when he would get all excited every time Troy busted off a big run. I love Breece, but TD is one of the top 10 running backs in college football history. He had an average o-line on a team with no passing game. Teams would key in on him and still couldn't stop him. He was the best player in college football in 1996 and it wasn't even close.

Also... Happy birthday to Pat Augafa! If you are old enough to remember TD then you know who big Pat is as well.

As I recall, TD's OL was better than average - coached by a great OL coach at all levels including the NFL, Steve Loney. Who, coincidentally, is or at least has been some kind of consultant for Campbell's staff.
I guess they were above average for an ISU o-line, but compared to every team in the country they were probably average. If Troy was running behind a really good line then he probably would have ran for 2,500 yards in back-to-back seasons. I think Augafa and Kohn were they only ones that were ever on an NFL roster. Not sure if either of them ever played in a regular season game or not.
