Problems that weren't his own causing? Really? I guess being one of the worst basketball coaches on the planet doesn't qualify as being his fault. I would expect more from ESPN then that.
Cheap as in "Hey, no other big time chool wants to hire me, just pay me something around 600,000 and it will be fine." I am in no way against hiring him as long as there are iron clad moral clauses in his contract that makes it extremely one-sided.

What we could potentially get BG in here for is a big deal in this whole thing. Unless Mac negotiates, we're going to owe him upwards of $4 mil. A new coach is going to have to sign for pretty "cheap" for it to a possibility at all. IF BG really wants back into coaching as badly as the article states, he's going to have to make some salary concessions that might make it a possibility for ISU. You could structure a contract that's heavy on incentives and morality clauses. It's one of the very few hires that ISU could make where they would hold pretty much all the bargaining chips, and as far as purely basketball coaches go, probably the best guy on the market.
This. If the experiment fails we are no worse off then if we had just kept GMAC. I don't think BG is as big of a risk as some want you to think. Our program is already on rock bottom so we can't get any lower.
i dont know if someone had said it yet, but on ESPN Rumors theyre saying Iowa State is a likely landing place for BG
Now, think if we got BG and it worked...he stayed out of his alcohol troubles and he did well and his career had a resurgence. It would look good for ISU.
