Something like this happened on one of the boards for Texas A&M a couple years ago i've been told. TAMU's president Gates was a secret poster on their boards.
Maybe you should read what you wrote again. You simply stated that you wouldn't care if or when we lost if BG is the coach because he wouldn't represent the University well. Interesting.
5 minutes later you will cheer on ISU no matter who the coach is? Seems like that was an oops post a little earlier since I remember you bashing the hell out of anyone who said they no longer cared when ISU lost because they no longer wanted GMAC to be the head coach. Are you still going to hold it over our heads if BG is the head coach and he turns things around?
I disagree with that. Granted the people that are on this website represent only a small, vocal minority of the fan base as a whole, I think the rumor will be perpetutated by word of mouth and the possibility of other reporters picking it up.
Cyclone fanatic has shown a knack for bringing up topics that quickly make their way to the loca news (i.e. the Smiley Face Killers, teachers boycott of Legends). :biglaugh:

Pollard would be dumb to not at least keep his eye on either this message board of CR. While it's only a small cross section of Iowa State fans, it still would give him a decent sense of how the fans sit on a given issue.

Several GMAC apologists such as JSB seem to think that Gillespie wouldn't be able to recruit at ISU. Laughable. When GMAC was bringing in gems like "Petey" I don't think that BG would have any trouble at all doing better then that.
You love that comic relief line. Right? Funny stuff.
So how about the logic and reality that you dish on this board? GMAC is great, don't attack KG (people asking simple questions - FYI), the program is moving in the right direction, GMAC is doing a wonderful job, We are about to turn the corner, GMAC just needs a few more years, etc.....
Just saying.... you have been extremely supportive of a coach that is below .500 overall and has a .250 conference winning percentage that is raking in one hell of a nice salary. Being overly supportive of this guy is not really showing that you are in touch with reality or being very logical. Just saying....

Seriously some of you want our coaches to be your best friend, for gods sake do you not like enjoying winning and putting a good product on the floor despite who it is?? If Billy is the man then yes go after that coach!!
But neither does signing a complete class of players every Spring which Greg has done every year he has been here. I know the first class was thrown together, but each of the next three were filled with Spring signees (including Brister). This year appears to be no different.
It's because he has done a very poor job of evaluating the talent he has brought in. He basically starts from scratch year to year.
This is year four (cue Gene Hackman), there is no reason on earth that he should be out scouring jucos for quick fixes at this point. He has to because there is no stability in his program. He has signed so many kids that can't play at this level, and lost the ones who can for whatever reasons. It all boils down to the fact that it is his responsibility for the shape this program is in.
Add the fact that he, and Pollard, have tried to fool people into thinking there has been progress and it's even worse. Last year, they knew the league was down. So they load up the most pathetic non-conference schedule one that Bill Snyder would be embarrassed about, to win games. They still lost four, and then got killed in the conference. Then he loads up for this year to save his job, knowing that both Craig and Marquis will be gone leaving the cupboard pretty damn bare for next year.
Of coyrse it didn't work, desperate plans with faulty execution rarely is successful. And you can see how it has turned out.
I still think that he will be here next year. And that sets the rebuild at another two years.
What I meant was that I won't be as emotionally invested if he is the coach. Kind of like you claim to be now.
So you don't think Gillespie could come in, have a positive effect on our program, and represent our school well based on his past behavior? You're directly relating what he did and what he will do which is not fair. For all we know, he is completely recovered and has his life back on track. Let's not forget, he was in one of the most stressful coaching situatiosn there is, and the vices in his life got the better of him. I know Mac's a good guy and he is done a great job running the program with integrity...but there are alot of good people with good integrity out there that aren't capable of running a basketball team. I like Gillespie's edge, coaching ability and knack for recruiting, and am not going to write him off as being some type of disgrace to the integrity of the university just because he struggled with addicition and maybe had some questionable antics in the past.

I have been supportive of the Iowa State Cyclones basketball team in the best way I know how. I have NOT been overly supportive, in my opinion.
another Petey hater? Why? I just don't get it. The kid was a walkon who played hard and played right. Sure he shouldn't have had to play 30 mins a game, but that's not his fault.
I'm guessing that more than 1% of the fanbase has access to CF, ESPN or other media outlets that are now running this "rumor".
petey was a walk on. damn good one too. problem is we failed to recruit over him, but don't bash petey.
I really don't think it ragging on Petey. It's ragging on the fact that we were unable to recruit a scholarship guard capable of beating out a walk-on.
Just curious, where has this surfaced on ESPN? Not saying it hasn't, just hadn't seen that before.
