The more I think about this, the more I doubt the validity of the story. JP has shown that his coaching searches are very secretive. I also doubt he'd let it slip that we're looking to dump McD.

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. All this rumor stuff is based off a guy who does not even cover Iowa State Athletics! Lets just calm down and put a beat down on Missou tonight. ( If you guys still care)

You might as well quit posting. The credibility you never had was lost when you tried comparing Iowa State to Kentucky. My mom could recruit to Kentucky.
I know this but I was just saying he could draw kids out of Texas. I know he'd pull in a good recruiting class for ISU, much better than MCD.

You can't guarantee anything, especially when it comes to pulling recruits outta Texas. I don't care where any coach pulls them from, get the best talent available. Just because they're from Texas doesn't make them a great recruit (see: Marcus Brister). I'm sure parents would just be thrilled to send their sons to play for the guy that can't take care of himself.

After starting for us for two years and currently on our coaching staff, you would think one person would learn how to spell Bryan Petersen's name. Even those die-hards that run Cyclone Alley screwed it up on their handouts during the pink out game.

I don't know if I buy your take on him. In the past you seem to have it out for coaches that rub you the wrong way personality wise. The ESPN article makes it sound like he might have his **** together, it's worth looking at.

I've never met him. I'm basing it on feedback from people (at UK) who worked with him.

FWIW - my brother-in-law "seemed" to have it together the first 3 times he got out of rehab. But again, alcohol was only a part of the problems he had. As you might suspect - I can't say much more.

Christoppherson (smooth move CA and Copyworks) was spelled wrong a few weeks ago. :biglaugh:

Agreed. I wasn't trying to say he'd bring Texas kids to ISU I was just complementing his recruiting skills.

Does this mean we can't discuss whether or not we think it would be a good hire?

I didn't notice that. On the roster or with some of their random facts in the middle of the page?

In his name in the starting lineup. We apparently got some Scott Christoppherson kid?

Not what I am saying, but as of now we still have a coach who has a great chance of being here next year. We can discuss potential hires until the cows come home, but the reality is this season is not over yet and there has been little talk about a game tonight, and potentially the final home game for Brackins, which in my opinion is a bigger deal than the possibility of a potential coach...

And I guess that I would rather roll the dice on a good guy and someone who represents the school well than with someone who wouldn't.

One positive for me, is that I would likely care less when we loss. I've felt terrible all year when we've lost for Craig and for McDermott. Those feelings for me would go right out the window.

Then feel free to not celebrate when the team has success under BG (IF he gets the job) as well. We wouldn't hold the teams success over your head or anything. :jimlad:

Yes.... he was so bad that nobody even bothered to figure out how to spell his name. That.... says it all.

We can also discuss a coach that hasn't upgraded this program in four years. It is clear that we aren't going anywhere with the current staff so it is a bigger deal to discuss potential hires than to focus on a team that is going nowhere. At least discussing potential hires gives some hope and optimism for the future.
