Bill Self praising ISU right now

It really is hilarious; they refuse to respect us but fear the hell out of us.

Not sure it's fear, but they certainly aren't going to be as confident after we beat them at their place when they were at full strength, and after seeing us dismantle 3 teams in KC with the great fan base we have. I think it would be 50/50 ISU and KU fans if we do meet up.

But first, Nevada....

KU already complaining about how unfair it is that ISU is in their region.

Lol. They're playing an NCAA tournament game in a building that they regularly play games that are included in their season ticket package.

When they had their 50 something game home winning streak, you know the one Iowa St snapped, a handful of those games counted were played in the Sprint Center.

On ESPN radio. He is a fan of Monte, Matt and "Noz Long." He talked about how we have been more successful in KC than Kansas has in recent years. I don't like the guy but it was cool to hear him saying nice things about ISU.

He always speaks highly of ISU

Coach Prohm was just on the same ESPN'S radio show. It's weird, I was in the car for 20 minutes and heard the entire Self interview and then and hour and a half later I get back in the car and a minute later they bring Prohm on. Good timing!

Man it will be a sweet match up between Kansas & ISU in Hilton South. It will be a even better match up without Kansas there and the sprint center packed with Cyclone nation.

I think he's always been a decent guy and has always respected the other players and programs in our league. Not an act for him IMHO.

I agree. It's hard to cheer for Kansas, but I've heard nothing but good things about him from a few people I've known who have run into him back in his days at Illinois.

Besides, if Fred likes him and is friends with him he can't be too bad.

Everything else aside, I believe him if he says he respects our guys. The handshakes he gave Monte and Matt after we beat them down there looked very genuine to me.

Self is a class act and always has spoken highly of ISU.

Beating KU in the Sweet 16, and winning the Elite 8 game in Hilton South would be the most perfect way to punch a final four ticket.

We obviously have business to take care of before this.

Yeah, that's not exactly the 8/9 you hope to see coming for you as a 1 seed. I think Miami is the more likely team to face them, and they're not going to be in awe of KU. Still young though.

First hope is for ISU to find some success Thursday and pull out the win, and then have a chance late vs. Purdue, and that KU loses in 2nd round so they implode further at a missed chance to play in K.C.

Self is a good basketball coach but a very good politician.

I think he's been very respectful to ISU, but he also knows the value of patting someone on the back before they've done anything.

Miami, maybe. MSU? No. As someone that follows them as a second team, they're hot garbage this year. They don't really deserve a 9 and would have been fortunate to get a play-in game.
