Big 10 is awful and has been awful for a long while.

"We play defense." I hear that one a lot. Yet their defenses don't play well in bowl games. Why? Because they play offenses that are actually good. Big 10 offenses are awful. The only good offense in the Big 10 this year was Wisconsin and they needed an ACC QB to do it.

Penn State allowed 162 passing yards a game in the Big 10 and HOuston threw for 532 against them

Wisconisn allowed only 17 points a game in the Big 10 but allowed 45 against Oregon, granted the Ducks offense is ridiculous

Nebraska played 4 non conference D1 opponenets and they scored 5 more points on average than Big 10 offenses did. Those 4 teams were Fresno State, Washington, Wyoming, and South Carolina.

It happens every year

Post of the thread. 100% truth.

Great tactile examples of something that is 100% obvious to anyone remotely informed about college football as a whole.

After watching the bowl games, I think it's fair for even a big10 fan to say that the big 10 is the 4th best conference this year. OSU being down absolutely kills the big 10.

I'm not jealous of Iowa. I'm proud that the state of Iowa has two excellent universities. What I do hate is condescension from Iowa fans that have an inflated view of their own importance. This inflated view comes in part from playing in the "vaunted" Big Ten.

My boyfriend is an Iowa fan, and we live together in Madison, WI, where I am a student at the UW. I also used to work for the University of Minnesota. I hear crap ALL THE TIME about how great the Big Ten is...and while that's true academically, that's crap for on the field performance. It's like saying that Pamela Anderson is still hot. She used to be, but now she has hepatitis and looks like she got hit in the face with a shovel.

From the videos I've seen, that wasn't a shovel.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I summed this up in a conversation yesterday:

The B1G is a perceived elite conference, whether they are or not. Most times not, especially recently.

Iowa city community college fans are truly the reason I hate the big 10. Ferentz is classy - even the announcers for ICCC are respectable. The fans are a**e*. The funny part is its not the fans that went to school there that are the issue.... It's the ones that went to Walmart and bought a hat.

Look, I get it. Iowa is in the Big Ten, and ISU fans hate Iowa. No brainer.

What I don't get is the over-obsession by quite a few people on here with the BIG. I guess I just don't get the mindset of treating an entire conference as an opposing (or favorite) team.

Personally, I was happy with UW's loss (especially the way it happened), because Iowa and UW are rivals. I don't want them to win a Rose Bowl. Ever. I was hoping Sparty would lose, because, well, I hate Dantonio. A lot.

Especially if my favorite team doesn't contribute to the strength of the conference.

Just my opinion.

Okay, you got me. I'll cop to my over-obsession with the B1G. You've got to understand, though, it is because I'm hopelessly jealous of everything the conference has accomplished, in the exact same way that I'm jealous of my socially awkward neighbor who got a $1 million insurance settlement for shooting himself in the groin with a defective air-soft gun.

The Big Ten Conference: Dumber than the Ivy League, Less Athletic than the ACC, more money than the G-O-D.

So there you have it. I hope this clears up your confusion.:jimlad:

Are you saying that if I shoot my self in the junk with an air soft gun I can get ONE MILLION DOLLARS

I'd say more like 6th
Big XII, SEC, PAC 10, ACC, B1G

First of all, that list has the Big Ten in 5th. And I'd take the Big Ten over the ACC in pretty much any year, including this one. I won't bother making a case for any better than 4th, though.

I'll give you Wisconsin. Michigan's bowl game makes me angry though.

Agreed. They didn't deserve the bid, and IMO it's a game they can win. And that only serves to work against Iowa. Michigan is going to be "back" eventually, and in the very near future. But if they win tonight, the program gets a serious jump start.

I think the SEC is boring. They have one capable QB in the whole frickin league. That LSU/Bama game was awful to watch.

You forgot the end of that sentence which is "but they would eviscerate anyone from the Big Ten".

I don't know. It's not like LSU completely crushed Oregon and Wisconsin had a great chance to win that game. Bama didn't completely demolish PSU who is not a good team at all. Those two would likely win but like i have said, the truth is somewhere in the middle. The SEC isn't all everyone makes it to be and the Big Ten probably isn't as bad as it's made out to be.

First games of the year. We almost lost to UNI as well. Are we at a DIAA level?

Iowa did average 19 points (in regulation) vs Big 12 teams. Pretty awesome.

Minnesota did win more Big 10 games than non conference games.

7 Big 10 teams finished with 6+ losses.

Anymore fun stats?

P.S. The Rizzuto z's Billy used are not good. Much like the big 10 as a conference.

Yeah USC is junk.........

There are 3 teams this year that are as good or better than the Big 10's best team in Wisconsin (I really like their team). After that both conferences are pretty much junk.

I promise to everyone on CycloneFanatic, I will never type "B1G" unless I am making fun of it in some way, shape, or form, or using it as an example (like I'm doing now).

I will never refer to their divisions as "Legends" or "Leaders" unless I am making fun of it in some way, shape, or form, or using it as an example (like I'm doing now).

Wrong.

Horrible Big Ten losses this year (teams ranked below 85 in Sagarin):

-New Mexico State
-Army
-Minnesota
-Rice
-Minnesota
-Ball State
-North Texas
-North Dakota State (ranked 48 in Sagarin but an FCS team)

Horrible Pac 12 losses this year (teams ranked below 85 by Sagarin):
-Sacramento State
-Colorado
-Colorado

And just for fun horrible losses by Big 12 this year (teams ranked below 85 by Sagarin):

ZERO

Call this "hate" if you want to, I call it simple truth that certain people conveniently ignore.

Beautiful!

Hard to argue those facts.

And Colorado is in the Pac 12 so the Pac 12 really only has 1 horrible loss
