Big 12 Refs Strike Again

Then it should have been an offensive foul against Gathers on the other end when he did the same exact thing McKay did on Hogue. Completely inconsistent refereeing in this game.
Hoping for consistency across the boards on all calls in all games is as futile as hoping for all players to play their best in every game.

Chery's arm was almost fully extended before he ever made contact with Morris. No way he could exert that kind of force to send Morris back that far with so little leverage. There was some contact but it was much less than what Michial Jordan did against Bryon Russell.

Link? Equation? Theorem?

Morris' momentum was already taking him towards the baseline, and the push from Chery causes him to lose his balance. The push also allowed Chery to stop his momentum and change direction causing the large separation and the wide open shot.

Exactly. Just imagine how open guards could get if they shoved the guy that was guarding them when they get juked, even the slightest bit. It is super easy to push someone over or away if they are already leaning that way. The thing that bothers me most is everyone saying that isn't a foul, because ISU seems to get called for this all the time with a little bit of an arm extension, whereas that was a full arm extension shove, and he absolutely did it on purpose. Certainly not the only reason that ISU lost, but it did determine the end of the game.

I'm going to repost something I did earlier:

Why not both?

1. ISU played poorly by doing _______.
2. An official missed a call at the end.

Had either of those two things not happened, ISU would have won.

So why is rebounding/free throws/sloppy play/Niang/whatever the "real" reason for the loss?

Couldn't say it better.

Getting down 17 because we decided defense was for ******* is why we lost.

And then crawling within 2 in the same half, yet losing by 12 at halftime.

Horrible team effort tonight. Embarrassed with Niangs play all of January. Not meeting even half of his expectations this year. Missed easy bunnies tonight, stepped out of bounds simply running around with the ball, and decided to run into a trap with 3 seconds left and put up a stupid *** shot and leave two hot players wide open.

The Cyclones only had 4.7 seconds to go full court and take a shot. Thomas passed to Morris who took one dribble before passing to George. George took one dribble so he wouldn't have time to pass the ball off to an open BDJ and for him to take a shot. I think they should have taken a chance on a long pass to get an open three point attempt, especially when Naz was 5-5 in the game.

Seeing the replay Chery definitely did a push off on MM and Morris said as much in the post game. The thing that disappointed me the most was Hoage's T that was totally preventable. It was already the Cyclones possession after a made Baylor basket. The Baylor player fouled and ISU would have been shooting free throws anyway, then the Hoage T which was not an acceptable play. I was very disappointed in him, but he did that at least once last year.

ISU missed one of two but when they called the Technical on Hoage Baylor not only made both free throws but they got the possession and they scored again on a possession that should have been for the Cyclones.

At this point, the guys will learn more from a loss due to poor play, than getting lucky with a win. 40 minute consistency has to be a priority, and I'm sure Fred will use this game to light a fire so they can focus their best efforts on beating Kansas.

The thing with Hogue kinda bothers me because I highly doubt the Baylor player get's called for anything had they not whistled for the foul on Hogue. It's like the refs went to the monitor to try and give Hogue something more serious, then saw that he got nearly headlocked and thrown down and had to call something on Baylor.

I'm sorry, but I just can't take you seriously. However, I still read through it. We would not have gotten the Baylor Flagrant 1 if Hogue hadn't done that, so more than half of your comment is irrelevant.

I don't know what you expect from the refs, they can't call every headlock take down.

Why does this bother you? Isn't the refs calling the flagrant on Baylor when they saw it a good thing? The refs don't see EVERYTHING that happens on the floor in real time. There's only three of them, not 12.

Can anyone come up with a call or non call that handed ISU a win at the end of a game? Bet you can't.
1997 NCAA at Detroit, Kenny Pratt falls on back of Cincy player's leg, causing him to fall down and get called for travelling, setting up game winning shot on ensuing inbounds play.

Not being a smart ***, but you asked so...

The worst call of the game has either got to be McKay's phantom charge against Gathers or Gathers not getting called for displacing Niang for a rebound, resulting in Niang getting called for a foul trying to block Gathers' shot.
