Big 12 Refs Strike Again

Haha, good one! So you're in favor of the rules of basketball being thrown out the window in the last 10 seconds, got it. This "you can't call that in the last minute" crap gets so old.
To me Monte slipped more than anything. Very little contact. The only people debating this call are the overly delusional fans on this site. You would be complaining if the roles were reversed and the offensive foul was called on Chery defending MM.

I think you may be overstating the severity of that "foul". If the arm was bent and he extended the arm to push off then it gets called most likely. Since his arm was already straight and he simply stiff armed Morris and then did a step back then I don't see that getting called very often, especially since that crew was barely calling much of anything in that game. A crew that only whistles 27 total fouls in a fairly physical game isn't calling that one. I saw a dozen plays of similar severity by both teams that weren't called. If you let them go for the first 39:55 then you have to let them go the last 0:05.

I'm not one in the "crazy camp" going nuts because it wasn't called, however I do think it was a foul. Just think it's pathetic that these guys officiate with different rules come crunch-time. That gets called 80% of the time with 15:00 to go in the first half.

I think the straight arm by Chery had Morris off balance to begin with. With Morris already trying to lean away from him to avoid fouling, the step back by Chery resulted in Morris not being able to stop his momentum at all. No way that crew makes that call after all they let go through that game.

Nah, I saw hand checking and shoving going on through the whole game that was worse than that which wasn't called. It just meant more to you at that point in the game and went against you. If the roles were switched and it was Morris with the ball I doubt anyone here thinks that a foul should have been called. We can break down the film and find 100 "fouls" according to the book that weren't called. NO ONE wants all the fouls called; just all the ones that help their team.

Gotcha, thanks for setting me straight. Now I can more accurately enjoy the game tomorrow night.

I don't disagree with the call that much, it was close and Monte did look to slip also. However, if the situation were reversed, say against the dickheads from Kansas, I would be shocked if it was not called offensive on us. Just the way it is and I don't see that changing.

Wear a steel nut cup. I'm predicting either a call in the last 5 seconds against us with the game tied. Or a no call on a clear KsUck foul in the same situation.

Won't help. I am predicting an electromagnet scale **** up that will crush your nuts within collapsing aforementioned steel protective device.

Ouch. Now my nuts hurt just thinking about that. But yeah, it's probably going to happen. Been a Cy fan for too long.

JVB hit a 3 to beat Creighton a few years back on a shot that left his hand after the buzzer.
Good one. ISU did benefit from that one. It didn't strike me as so blatant a mistake that it was hard to understand. It was close and there wasn't film available during the game for review.

1997 NCAA at Detroit, Kenny Pratt falls on back of Cincy player's leg, causing him to fall down and get called for travelling, setting up game winning shot on ensuing inbounds play.

Not being a smart ***, but you asked so...
that is definitely the kind of call I was asking for. I definitely wondered how that got called. Funny thing is the collective brainpower of CF can only come up with three In the last 18 years. There have been more than that against us in the last three years.

This came up in another thread, and somebody posted about all sorts of other bad calls right in the vicinity of that one. To my knowledge the Creighton buzzer beater is the only one that really sticks...a half second call in our favor during a neutral site non-conf game. The Missouri football call the Big 12 apologized for has obvious photo evidence showing it was an obvious hold and Mizzou was crying simply because we beat them.
