BIG 12 continues to distance itself...

I like all the positive talk about the Big 12 conference being the best this year, but I don't like that most analyst always mention Kansas and Texas as the top two teams in the conference. I think both have shown some weakness early on. I hope we prove everyone wrong about this and sweep them both.

The number 1 seeds will be from these four conferences (in no particular order):
1) big 10 Wisky
1) pac 12 Zona
1) acc Duke
1) sec Kentucky
and the 2 seeds will be:
2) big 12 KU/Tex/ISU
2) big 12 KU/Tex/ISU
2) big east LVille
2) acc East Fashina

How's that for a guess? Mark it down!!

You can hope Wisky loses a few, and with the B1G having a non-con feces-fest, maybe they would get knocked down a notch.

I will say though, as long as you are a 1 to 4 seed, I don't think the seed matters a ton. The Big12 will prob get 3 of those, and that seems reasonable to me.

IMHO, what matters more is WHERE you play. I'd rather be a 4 in Omaha than a 2 in Raleigh, know what I mean? The Regional sites this year are Cleveland, LA, Houston, and Syracuse.

So figure we will be in the West with Arizona, I think they have the strongest home-field potential... can probably mark that down too.

Overall record doesn't mean squat, especially the cupcakes that get scheduled. The real test I'd head-to-head between conferences. I may have missed a couple of games, but I have the Big 12 at 27-14 against the others in the Big 5 conferences, plus the Big East. Team-by-team:

TCU 3-0
Kansas 5-1
ISU 3-1
Texas 3-1
Baylor 3-1
West Virginia 3-1
OKlahoma 3-3
OSU 1-1
Tech 1-1
KSU 2-4

TCU putting in work for the Big XII. Who knew. They very well might be ranked next week.

Maryland leading by 15 at OSU right now. Forgot how much I hated Layman from MD.

I like the way we play when we are on our game, but shouldn't bother you that UT and KU are looked as the top-2 right now. Look at the schedules they have played, who they return and added to teams that finished ahead of us last year. If they have showed weaknesses, then we have shown just as many. Listen to the team's comments- it is all about getting ready for March IMO.

Who knew they would be ranked going into conference play? Doubtful anyone outside Fort Worth, but they were a team to be bullish on going into the year. They have talent.

I don't want ISU to play Louisville or Kentucky. Arizona, Gonzaga, Wisconsin, Duke, etc. are all good but I don't mind a matchup with any of them. Ideally, we'll get a 2 or 3 seed (with Gonzaga, Virginia, Ohio State, etc. as the 2/3 in our region) and have an *easy* road to the Elite Eight, where we'll meet Arizona. Not sure if y'all have watched Zona this year or not, but they're not impressive. Beat Arizona, go to the Final Four, play Kentucky or Louisville.

I could live with this.

all I know is that we better not be a #4 seed. i guarantee we'll get UK's bracket. hopefully we can play well enough to get a 2 or 3.

I'd be shocked if Duke, UK, AZ, or Wisc have more than 2 losses in conf play, and I bet Gonz goes undefeated.

But that won't matter for the top seeds.

I got out my nostradomis book, so mark all this down...

2) acc

One of the big 12 teams will be in kentucky's bracket, essentially "punished" for their 5 conference losses. One of the stories on Selection Sunday will be how the top four seeds come from the same conferences as the football playoff, but some talking head will justify it by saying that they all dominated their leagues and that two of the big 12s top teams played Kentucky and lost--so the big 12 will have nothing to complain about.

Marty McFly's 2000 - 2050 Sports Almanac would also confirm this

The 1 seeds don't necessarily depend on conference, but the breakdown that keeps showing up is about right.

Kentucky, Duke, Arizona, and somebody will be the ones. That's pretty much set, barring a spectacular collapse from one of those 3.

I want to see this ISU team A d how we do our first two road game @WV and @baylor back to back. If we can win both of those and start conf 3-0 I'm going out on a limb to say we will lose 3 conf games. @tx, @ku and @ou. That's it.

im not afraid of Kstate, okie st, TCU, TT, on road. We will not lose at home. Bank it. This team is too deep, too talented, and has a for real front court for a change. Height wise I mean.

If we do that and finish 26-4 and get to the tourney title we will get a 1 seed IMO.
