BIG 12 continues to distance itself...

Could be a brutal season once we get into league play. I see Hoiball winning the BIG 12... that would be such a statement given the strength of the conference.

But that won't matter for the top seeds.

I got out my nostradomis book, so mark all this down...

The number 1 seeds will be from these four conferences (in no particular order):
1) big 10
1) pac 12
1) acc
1) sec

and the 2 seeds will be:
2) big 12
2) big 12
2) big east
2) acc

One of the big 12 teams will be in kentucky's bracket, essentially "punished" for their 5 conference losses. One of the stories on Selection Sunday will be how the top four seeds come from the same conferences as the football playoff, but some talking head will justify it by saying that they all dominated their leagues and that two of the big 12s top teams played Kentucky and lost--so the big 12 will have nothing to complain about.

I'd take any 2 seed as long as it isn't the one in UK's bracket.

I disagree - the Big 12 will have 1 #2 and 2 #3s - at best. Could possibly be a #2, #3, #4. No way they acknowledge the Big 12 with 2 #2 seeds.

UNLESS KU WINS the conference regular season AND the conference tourney, then the BIG XII won't be "down this year*"


*Definition: Big XII is having a down year any year KU doesn't win it all.
 
The Big 10 had another horrible Saturday. Mich St losing at home to 1-8 Texas Southern?

This is historic. When has something like this happened in the last 40 years?

I'd swap the PAC12 and Big East teams. I don't see anyone coming out of the West that'll be worth a damn. I could actually see the Big 12 getting as many as three top 2 seeds. And let's be honest, there isn't much difference between a 1 and 2 seed. It all depends on locations of the other teams for where you get sent.

Back in reality, this could happen. The Big 12 is a deep conference, but ISU, Texas, and Kansas (perhaps Oklahoma) are head and shoulders above the rest. Suppose ISU, Texas and Kansas sweep the rest of the conference and split amongst themselves - that's 3 15-3 records in a conference as good as the Big 12 - pretty hard to ignore without people screaming conspiracy. Not saying that will happen, but it could.

There was a year back in the 90s where Purdue got one of the number 1 seeds that people were questioning them being the first 1 to lose. There were another 5 or so Big 10 teams. Maybe one survived the first round and no one made it out of the first weekend.

Someone help me out on the year?
 
Oklahoma lost to a good Washington team @Las Vegas, but other than that, The BIG XII has something like a 30-1 record over the past 2 weeks. I want to see some updated numbers, especially with the B10's horrible weekend.

It was in Vegas, but I agree it was by no means a bad loss. They struggled the first 15 minutes of the game and got down big, but they outplayed Washington the rest of the way and had several opportunities to tie or take the lead.
 
Yesterday had to be one of the worst days in big ten basketball. Iowa losing to UNI on a nuetral court was a great result compared to losing to Texas southern and st Francis pay at home.
