Before I watch the game replay

You're right, it was 14-0, then 17-3, then 24-10 i think, before we closed the gap for good. Last night I think we were down 11 for 1 or 2 possessions, otherwise was a single score difference for whole game. But original point that this game had similarities to 2017 still stands

I feel blessed to have watched both the 2017 and 2020 games person. And I was in Norman for the 2019 game when we should have won. Coach needs to put me on the payroll.

Excellent thread; helped answer lots of my questions as a fan in the stand.

1 outstanding question: the play before Xavier's TD; what happened on that 3rd and 11 play that had no flags where Purdy threw incomplete, but the officials then huddled for 2 minutes where they determined OU # 6 held someone on ISU? We were really baffled in the stands, but it was a game changer that went our way.

I still never understood the personal foul penalty called on Hudson for being on his back on the ground getting punched and stepped on by OU?? That one really ticked me off. The ONLY thing I can even imagine is if he said something really bad??

I also saw Hudson try pinching the back of one player's knee right when the flag was thrown.

Also, there is a point when OU was in the redzone where their RB got stood up and there was a crowd pushing both ways where a OU lineman grabbed the facemask of one of our players long after the whistle and was twisting it every which way.

IIRC the explanation on #3 was that Kolar was not set properly before the snap, or something similar related to his position on the field pre-snap. It was after a group motion I think.

My understanding was Kolar was one of 5 offensive players off the line of scrimmage, so he would have been ineligible to be a receiver on that play.

There was also a play where Isiah Lee pancaked their center, and the center pulled him down on top of him. 10/10 times that has to be called.

If is is the play that I am thinking of, #6 grabbed and held Kolar's jersey when he tried to make his cut to the outside. The announcers weren't sure what was going on at first either but caught it after a couple of replays.

Edit: He defended the pass perfectly but held Kolar on his cut so that he could be in position to make the play.

#4 the false start was called on our receiver (no. 9) and he was definitely starting his "LOS shake-and-bake" thing that receivers do before the snap and before the defender ran over the center.

#1 the INT was a good call, ball hit the ground before he had possession.

#2 roughing the passer was a good call, but i thought targeting was a bad decision. He hit chest-to-chest with helmet offset to the side and didn't launch into the QB. But the hit was too late.

#3 I don't remember seeing the replay.
This targeting penalty needs revisited and simplified. Always a very costly penalty, and often times totally unintended.

DBack was holding the receiver along the sidelines. A flag was thrown but wasn’t one most saw.

I think that one was called really late, too IIRC. I remember thinking that it was weird to be on the other end of one of those late "drive-saving" calls for a change.

I'll have to go back and look, but there was a red zone play in the fourth quarter when one of our players went into motion and was pretty clearly moving forward before the ball was snapped.

I was amazed that didn't draw a flag.
