Bates' father speaks out

The only way the redshirt thing would be an issue is if he transferred to a 1AA... errr... FCS team. Then he would have 3 years to play instead of 2.

Bates has 2 to play. He'll burn his redshirt sitting next year, and if he plays in the Big XII will lose a year of eligibility. Giving him 1 year.

If he goes anywhere else in FBS (I assume pops wouldn't stoop to letting Junior go to FCS) yes he will have 2 to play with his redshirt.

Edit - I think I misread you... we both agree he will only have 1 year to play in the Big XII, 2 years to play anywhere else

I don't think he burns the shirt just because he has to sit out a year. I think he can still use the shirt after that year he has to sit out after transferring. I don't know the rules on that for sure, though.

All this talk about the one school that has came out of PB's mouth makes me wonder how much Sr knew about the rule that has you lose a year on top of sitting out a year. I just could not wrap my head around leaving mid-season to play 1 year. (Hard enough understanding the leaving mid-season thing.)

When I read PB Sr.'s words my first thought was...PB Jr. may not have wanted to quit but Daddy started flapping his mouth. It makes me think this is the 1st time in PB Jr's FB carrer that he hasn't been #1 and daddy couldn't deal with. It's to bad, I really wanted to see Jr. do well and be all that we thought he could be. Hate to see Bates Jr. go but it might be the best for everyone involved.

He just called back and said HA-HA.

This is in incredibly poor taste:no:

I am sure that Mr Bates Sr. probably feels vindicated. I would hope that Jr. feels bad for the group that he previously called his teammates.

Well, that's it for me. I will check back in the morning (or afternoon) to see the videos of Coach Chizik being burned in effigy.

Agreed, I would hope Phil still has some feelings for a group of friends. On the other hand. I feel like quitting this team myself. Seriously, I'm sick of getting kicked in the balls by the Cyclones.

we fans dont quit when the going gets tough, Bates is kind of in a wierd position right now, Man did he let these guys down.

I love the rags headline for our loss tonight, they have to pour salt on the wound every chance they get

We deserve it. Too bad they don't have a picture of everyone in the country pointing at Ames and laughing. I picture the rest of the country as Nelson from the Simpsons and us the butt of his HA HA!

Been off the site for a couple days, read the Bates senior article and had to look up the definition of QUITER: Maybe if someone has Bates Sr.'s email address we can send it to him so he knows what the word means.
