B1G football has been going down for decades. There was just a national article about it. No Southern recruiting connection but I do think culturally we fit in with the B1G western schools. Ideally a great western division would be ISU, MN, Wisc, Iowa, NW, Neb (built in rivaly unlike Rutgers or Maryland) and IL.
I would love to join the B1G.
The only better option would be if all the conferences fell apart and we somehow fell into a makeshift league with:
Iowa State
Iowa
Nebraska
Missouri
Minnesota
Wisconsin
Kansas
Kansas State
..Illinois
..Northwestern
Teams we could compete with
Here's a Map!
I agree with this. I don't think a B1G schedule is as ragged as what happens in the B12, but it's not like ISU is even competitive enough to conclude that they'd all the sudden be good. No matter the conference, ISU is still marginal in football.
This would be a great league for proximity and regional rivalries! It will never happen but would be sweet if it somehow did.I would love to join the B1G.

Even MN would be a good rivalry. Have to get them back for what they did to Jack Trice.

If they extend that branch, I say we take it. We could actually compete in that league in football and be a perennial powerhouse in bball.
In their first three years Nebraska has won/lost at basically the same clip in the B1G as they did in their last three years in the Big 12. And that's with the B1G overall at a pretty historic low as a conference in football. Do you really think ISU would come in and all of a sudden win at a much higher rate when the Huskers haven't been able to?
Surely you people jest. I can't believe anyone actually believes the B1G would take Iowa State. Even the most optimistic fan could not believe that.
We eventually would get worse in the B1G in football. A good portion of our recruits come here so they can play in or near their home in Texas at least 2x a year. We move to the B1G and that dries up. I don't know the number of Texas recruits that Nebraska still pulls up, but I bet it's a harder sell today.
So then we are stuck recruiting the north and east. And whatever
We need 2 more teams in conference and split divisions like the old Big 12. Dilute the conference like the B1G.
Have no clue. All I know is what Nebby did in its last few years in the Big 12 and its first three years in the B1G, which is about the same.
Wow, they've had the exact same team for all that time? I'm surprised the players still have eligibility.
Oh wait, everything changes from year to year so you have effing clue what Nebraska would have done in the Big12 the past few years.

I think you meant to say "no" effing clue there.
You may want to stress that point to some of your fellow ISU fans. They seem to think they do have an effing clue about how ISU would do if they joined the B1G.
