No chance. Seriously, we'd have a better chance getting into the SEC.
No way to the Big 10. Granted, our football team hasn't been playing national championship ball like ever, but we have been reasonably competitive in the Big 12. Remember the Big 8 days of absolutely having no chance against an average record team? We have been able to get Texas recruits since being in the Big 12. In the Big 10, might as well count on 3 win seasons and competing with the rest of the bunch for Midwestern recruits only. Ask Nebraska if they are having a better go of it in the Big 10. Interest and attendance in the football program would dwindle also.
Over 100 years of our identity is with the plain states universities, and football and basketball in the Big 12 are more exciting. Football is much better in the Big 12, basketball is a wash, and wrestling would be an uptick in the Big 10.
We have some bad luck on calls, but we also had a huge call go our way over Ok State in 2011 with the field goal at the end.
Yay to the Big 12, nay to the Big 10.
1 or 2 out of 26 isn't good.Good point on ISU teams in the 70s. But that is few and far between during the Big 8 history.
26 guys on our roster are from Texas. In addition, recent NFL success players from ISU came from Texas - Ellis Hobbs and Osemele. We are getting some good talent also from the Midwest states right now, but I am sure one of the reasons is that they would prefer to play in a better league against superior competition.
