Austin Desanto Transferring

My take on the situation with absolutely no knowledge... going to Iowa would be like putting racing fuel on the fire. Going to Penn State would provide the mental stability/coaching approach that he probably needs. Either way, if he ends up in the B1G competing week after week against that talent will be tough if he is struggling mentally with a few things.

How did that "stability" work out for Andrew Long? Just saying, Iowa has issues like any other team but racing fuel on a fire? If anybody can mentor/knows how losing it mentally can happen...it's Terry Brands.

Which one of your four coaches does it sound like?
Outworking and breaking their opponent sounds mostly like Dresser as that was back in the day when Iowa was on a different level when it came to conditioning and the difference in attack rate. Zadick, St. John, and Metcalf may have had that mentality as well. Metcalf had a motor and would break opponents, but he was crazy skilled as a technician as well!

Jump to 10:55 mark.

Boy after watching that full match, Micic did do a lot of stalling. It seems like he knew if he tied up with DeSanto and held him there, DeSanto doesn't know how to get out of it?

A lot of emotion and energy there from DeSanto. Needs to better harvest it next year

That is why I think DeSanto may struggle against elite wrestlers. If you slow the match down, DeSanto is very beatable. Parker kept the match at a slow pace when he beat DeSanto

Heard he’s going to Iowa. I’m not sure I’d want anything to do with that kid.

Lee
DeSanto
Murin
Lugo
Kem
Bull
Gunth
$$$
Warner
Stoll

74 and 84 the only soft spots in that lineup.

Is he getting any money to attend? Would think everything was used up already. If he is paying his own, you would think he would get a chunk of what is available the next year, otherwise he would be paying for all 3-4 years there.

I am pretty okay with Iowa never winning another NT. At this point I don't care if Penn State wins 40 in a row. The egos around the sport in the state have been much easier to live with now that clearly the best program in the country is in a different time zone.

Is this the ISU version of the "right way" posts that Iowa fans used in the past about ISU basketball transfers?

Would much rather have transfers that had differences with their former coaches, or even ones that were busted for smoking weed and dismissed from the team, than take one that literally tried to break another wrestler’s arm on national TV because he was getting his ass kicked.

But that’s just me.

Happy that a kid with some mental health issues is getting another chance to live out a dream. However, if that crap continues I would hope Brands shows him the door.
