As a UNI fan, hope they gut the Dakota schools to the bone!An alliance of the Dakota schools is uniting in Ames, in some way this is a dream come true. (a dream I didnt know I had)
Perhaps he wanted more salary, which ISU couldn't afford, so a lowered buyout was offered in lieu of a higher salary...At the time it happened and to this day I don't see why we agreed to such a low buyout compared to what other schools are agreeing to.
What leverage did JP have to demand anything? He already had a head coach at less than market. At the time it happened and to this day I don't see why we agreed to such a low buyout compared to what other schools are agreeing to.
Yup, asking for a lower buyout reinforces to JP that he’s preparing for his next job. Not ‘All in’.Perhaps he wanted more salary, which ISU couldn't afford, so a lowered buyout was offered in lieu of a higher salary...
I’m guessing the other option was not signing the contract. You do what you have to doAt the time it happened and to this day I don't see why we agreed to such a low buyout compared to what other schools are agreeing to.
Just remember when people are trying to convince you that football donors were standing there with the open checkbook to keep MC from going to Penn State, the last time Campbell was working on an extension with ISU they must have been unable to find it on their desk and the buyout was reduced as a contract incentive. What leverage did JP have to demand anything? He already had a head coach at less than market.
I saw something that Kiffin's new buyout is $1.5M. If Campbell was going to jump jobs, a buyout wasn't going to prevent it.Yup, asking for a lower buyout reinforces to JP that he’s preparing for his next job. Not ‘All in’.
Great hire. Now need to put the full court press on Noah Pauley to stick around.
Don't forget the next president of Iowa State! An alliance of the Dakota schools is uniting in Ames, in some way this is a dream come true. (a dream I didnt know I had)
I wouldn’t bet on it, he isn’t on the ISU coaches page anymore like the other Campbell assistants. Being removed means you are gone.Great hire. Now need to put the full court press on Noah Pauley to stick around.
And, remember WSU is without an AD. Head coaches want to know who their boss will be…He and Rogers are very close and we will pay our DC not that much less than WSU will pay their head coach. Its all but confirmed that Bobbit and Watson will be Co-DCs.
I wouldn’t bet on Mouse getting any coaching role at ISU under a new head coach. It creates a really weird dynamic with players. Can lead to a “we/they” relationship.I think that's actually objective evidence that Mouser is NOT ready to be a HC, and perhaps isn't proven enough as OC for non-fanatics to really trust his abilities. Don't get me wrong - I would be happy to have him stay on as OC; I just don't see that happening given what went down.
Yeah, how many times have we had a lead in the 4th qtr with 8 minutes to go, and you’re like “a nice little 6-7 minute drive here would be awesome?” Nope, either score in 90 seconds or punt in 30.A new coach, stressing defense and lower scoring games (burning clock with the run) is a positive combination to increase wins.
I see what you did and I don't like itYeah, how many times have we had a lead in the 4th qtr with 8 minutes to go, and you’re like “a nice little 6-7 minute drive here would be awesome?” Nope, either score in 90 seconds or punt in 30.
...so was Campbell just incapable of hiring a competent S&C staff most of his tenure here, or what? Wasn't that guy the third one to come here under him?Hopefully, he's an awful coach and human. Hopefully Matt takes the strength coach too, maybe that'll cut down on half our team dying year in and year out
