So let’s fire our most successful head coach in our history in the middle of a 7-2 season just because someone might be better or they might be worse? So glad you’re not the AD.

The reason I want names is because hopefully you’ll have the self awareness to realize you’re an idiot. Your post just proves you’re an idiot with zero self awareness
Yeah, justification for moving on from Campbell would be a really tough sell for me.

I love that he wants to be here, is good at his job, is a good human being (reportedly - never met him), and wants to teach kids how to be good humans.

Aside from that, I think you would have a hard time finding someone you felt super confident would win more if you were willing to pay twice as much…which Jamie is not.

Jamie has also had some bad hires and I'm thinking that the current era may not be a great idea.

how is ANY of that iowa states fault or matt Campbell's fault? Dodged???

That is one of the dumbest things ive' read and i post ALOT of dumb sh*t.
I never said it was his fault that we dodged those opponents, but he hasn’t exactly taken advantage of the easiest conference schedule we have seen in decades. Did you praise McCarney for his 7-5 team in 2005?

Be interesting to see what the building looks like if the next guy is more Gene Chizik rather than Matt Campbell.
I get it, you don’t have faith in Pollards hiring abilities. They are hit and miss. The Prohm and McDermott hire were terrible choices.

some people think mccarney walks on water. I don’t.

I am younger, and wasn’t a cyclone follower for his time.

Campbell is a good coach and has no problem winning here.. comparatively speaking to other coaches we've had.

How can you be so sure a new hire would be a good coach? Iowa State is sure as sh*t not hiring a current P4 good coach, so you'd take a chance on a young guy and hope it works.

Say you do that, you're looking at 2-3 years minimum to probably get it up and running. If it doesn't work? You're even further behind. If it works, that guy is potentially leaving for bigger and better places and your behind.. again.

The stability you currently have with Campbell and pairing that with the winning he is doing is irreplaceable.

Gunner needs to stop with the weed, get out of his parents basement, and get a dose of reality.
Vulcan logic. I like.

You’re positing that ISU is on an upward trajectory of improved results and program health independent of the staff and that this will continue on an upward trend no matter who is at the helm.

What we do know:
- ISU will improve after moving on from MC even if we have a series of unsuccessful hires.
- MC will not improve, ISU deserves more, and is better off without him

Is that accurate?
Rot on brother!

I have a feeling ISU is going to thump Cincinnati in a get right game Saturday, and most on this site will be back on the “How does ISU get in the playoffs?” talk will be back in full force. These last two games have been beyond frustrating, and the same old Campbell mistakes have been made during those two games, but Campbell and staff have also had a trend of making the right adjustments after a trend of bad games in a row. Still a lot of football left to be played.

A note on that. Basically have to win out and hope Colorado loses 1 vs KU, @OSU, @utah

I'm curious to see who/if anyone is back from injury or if there are some personnel changes.

From what I've seen Cincinnati is more in a phone booth than KU so should at least be a more favorable match up.

One wouldn’t be very consistent to not praise him for that year. This season is looking very 2005ish
I'm older. McCarney was the first light of hope we had in many, many years. Remember how he discovered he had a kid named Troy Davis who Walden had ignored as a freshman? Unfortunately, we took a step back after what I believe was his firing by immediately after the last game of the season. Losing track here, but didn't Gene Smith walk out onto the field to give Coach Mac the news? Mac didn't deserve that, but again I may not be recalling this accurately.

Pollard was hired in 2006 and was the one to fired McCarney. Hard to believe he did that a year removed from a magical 7-3 start.

Pollard and McCarney announced his resignation at a press conference. The following Saturday we played Missouri in an announced farewell to Coach Mac. 2006. I was there. We won.

Gene Smith was long gone as our AD when Coach Mac resigned. Pollard then hired Chizik. Smith left Iowa State in 2000. He was followed by Bruce Van de Velde. Then Pollard.
