Going back to the contract thread, JP and McD must have also had an understanding and talked every day. Last year they must have realized the rebuild was going to take longer than five years and that they supposedly had a chance with HB coming our way. So, despite what the contract said, they had a verbal and agreed the lost scholly could by some counting be stretched into a nine year mantra. This was a discretionary decision by the staff and not a mandatory per the contract. At the time, it seemed like a good idea until we had a mammouth meltdown with our best talent. Now, silence may be heard for a long time about the contract extension. We may see further erosion of current players by end of year and we may see a juco team on the floor next year.
Now, to reconcile the possibilities, current players should be practicing on their own as much as possible in their fine facility. Shooting free throws would be nice. Shooting three pointers would be great. Someone on this squad will need to take the end of game shots better than the past year for us to turn it around.
I would count success as opposed to failure as 20 wins, break even in conference, or an NCAA berth. To get 20 wins, you need a creampuff nonconference slate for 13 wins and then you need seven wins in conference/Big 12 Tournament. Until then, Wayne looks pretty good.
