If you are CMC though, is it wrong? Already have things moving in the right direction. Reasonable expectations, great place for a family, good enough salary. Can probably count on at least 10 years of steady and enjoyable employment.

Taking over a depleted OU program as it heads into a drastic transition with ridiculous levels of difficulty? At the place for football in a football crazy state? Where double digit wins is a floor for success? Intense media pressure and under the microscope constantly?

I'd stay at ISU.
If you don’t care about the difference in salary, and assume the playoffs have yet to expand, I agree. But most care about the money.

It is going to be just as hard for OU to reach the playoffs imo. They’ve never had to be a “do more, with less” program. They should make a great hire, but it’s not easier for OU to compete with Bama and Co than ISU to compete with Cincy, Houston, Ok St

This is dumb, I'd say the last 4 (prior to CMC) didn't work out, 3 were fired 1 left, and probably was going to be fired in a couple of years.
You’re just disagreeing on Dan. Which is odd. You don’t have to retire at ISU to have worked out.

Although we did part ways 16 years ago, he had a stretch in which he won 7+ in five out of six years. He turned around the program and much of the current health of the AD overall owed to his tenure. I don’t even think he was that good of coach, and we had better options, but he worked out.

50% success in hires the last 3 decades. Rhoads, who I think failed and was a poor HC, still had some success. Chizik didn’t work, but hardly a cautionary tale.

Awesome news... also, even though the national media won't give us any love, presuming things stay as currently construed by the time the new additions come in.....

Campbell, Fickell, Aranda, Gundy, Klieman, heck even Holgo, Leipold, Sitake at BYU.... that's a really impressive set of coaches.

Again, presuming they are all or mostly at their current schools at that time
