I personally don't like all the comments about Riley being scared of the SEC. He would have been fine. They are (at some point) going to expand the playoffs anyway so they are still one of the best teams in the SEC.
He was just simply pointing out that the move to the SEC is just a money grab, unnecessary and didn't want to do it. OU is thriving on the current setup and would have pretty much been in an expanded playoff situation every year. putting them with a chance to win a title every year.

that does becomes more difficult in the SEC although depending on the schedule setup so who knows....They are not going to play 6 teams in the conference each year so some years will be easier than others.
But to say OU will be irrelevant is inaccurate. Part of me hopes they fall like Nebraska did and currently Texas though.

also just seems odd that you get all these Tennessee, S Carolina, Vandy, Miss/MSU, mizzou, kentucky, arkansas fans who for some reason think they should get some gold medal for sucking in the SEC. Once the SEC moves to 9 conference games, some of these teams will not make their 6-6 record to get to a crappy bowl game.
it blows my mind how fans of those teams say. "we play in the SEC and our TV revenue is going to be $80M per year."

Me: Ok...you are 4-8 with wins over Fordham, UAB, Kent State and Vandy. Congrats on having more money?
meanwhile they are on their 5th coach in 15 years because they can't win. Nobody cares and the bottom HALF of the league exist primarily to feed the top half with wins.

all this just pisses me off because its so greedy and dirty. Businesses are being affected, Jobs affected, rivalries just thrown away, geographical proximity out the window, etc...
just because a few rich morons want a few more million per year. Money ruins a lot of nice things.

I need to go to bed and forget about all this for a few hours..lol

He said he talked to CMC about California tax rates. He didn't use those specific words.
Here's the Pollard quote:
You guys, the tax rate in California is 60 percent. We talked about that this weekend, Matt and I. If you’ve got to go there and it takes you 100 hours a week to do the job, how do you feel if you’re only getting paid for 40 of those 100 hours? Because that’s what it is. All your staff, all the way down the line, are only going to get paid for 40 of those 100 hours because the state of California and the federal government and whatever municipality that’s taking this excised tax and whatever other liberal thing they’re doing in California is taking the other 60 percent. They don’t always think about that.

It’s the same schedule as usual.
A bunch of mediocre to sub-mediocre ACC schools. An armed forces school.
The only difference is a home and home with Ohio State.

Every year it is five ACC schools per agreement with conference, Navy, USC, and Stanford. Other four games vary. They will always play Navy. They will sometimes play Army.

I bet it is easier than Texas's future schedule. I wonder if Mathew McConahay will be at that November Texas (4-5 at the time) versus UTSA exciting game in Austin in 2024.
It's all just so boring. Sabin is going to win until he retires.

Everyone needs to go look at the next 2 years of ND schedule. Holy ****.
Rumors from ND people are that the order of wish list would go
1). Luke Fickell - can't argue with this
2). Their stud young DC Marcus Freeman - would make a lot of sense for program continuity
3). CMC

I think he's truly third on the list. I like where that sits now. Lot can change in 48 hours.

I'm actually getting tired of this post-usc and really would like it to be done. For our program, the current guys, the recruits, and last our fans.

Really interesting tweet from Rocco Becht’s dad. I don’t think he would be tweeting about Campbell and *that specific job* if he 1) hadn’t heard from him between when the rumors picked up and now, OR 2) hadn’t gotten strong enough assurance he was staying put no matter what earlier today.

I know what the schedule is. I know they play a mixed schedule every year.

not sure why is considered so difficult. It’s not.
The most difficult game ND has played in the last 5 years was the Camping World Bowl.;)

one thing that struck me is USC buying a 6M home. I wonder if that should read "Giving him 6M to put towards a home"
quick zillow search in that area doesn't add up. I have a feeling he will be in the 10-15M range, but I got to remember its not like you have to buy the whole house either....you can just pay the mortgage.

I would say Kelly is getting a hell of a deal. A simple cost of living translator says 10M in Baton Rouge equals 15M in LA to maintain the same standard.

This is a new arms race that is going to be hard to win for 85% of the universities. at some point it also needs to stop.

I didn't even realize that some of these top school assistant coaches are getting 1-3M per year. WTF...

Also, how sure are we of Campbell’s “fit” at ND? Cardinal and gold colored glasses off, you don’t gut a program that’s made the playoffs multiple times over the past 5 years and replace it with a program builder.

I have no doubt HCMC would kill it at ND, but it is a bit of a bigger risk for them to pull in a “culture changer” rather than ride with the culture they’ve already built.

It’s an indication that the staff has been working to recruit as well as finalize this years class. I would assume that includes MC based on that tweet.

Also think Campbell is lower priority than the other three on his list fwiw

Agreed. Feels like HCMC might be the consolation prize (in *their eyes*, not mine) if ND doesn’t want to wait for Fickell and they aren’t ready to turn the keys over to Freeman based on what I’ve read.
