Freeman was on the staff at Cincinnati prior to coming to Notre Dame a year or so ago. My Prediction: Fickell gets the job but coaches Cincy in the playoffs and Freeman runs the show for his previous boss ( Fickel) til til he's available in January

I can't help but feel like all these huge coaching moves don't happen if Texas and OU stay in the Big 12 and the realignment drama never happened. Just feels like this past summer really put a lot of pressure on schools to make massive moves during this offseason.
Rumor is Riley didnt want to go to the SEC and did not feel heard.

Seems like good news! He is a former ND walk on.

That may turn out to be true but I can’t believe it is decided already. It is too big of a decision t on think they’d move that fast. It will be a highly desired job. They’d have interest from people not even named. I’m sure they’ll take some time to talk with a few candidates.

Then again, what the hell do I know?

According to Riley, that's not true:

Does that mean he wants to coach at OU when in the SEC, even if he was informed and thought the move the right decision?

But I like that he’s saying this. He is basically saying **** Oklahoma.

Hopefully they hire their Scott Frost.

What was he gonna say? "No, I didn't want to coach in the SEC. Too tough of a road to the playoff."

No, if that were the case he'd find some kind of dodge or squishy answer. He took the question head on and refuted the charge in very specific terms.

And besides, even if it were true that he wanted an easier road to the playoff, is that supposed to be a bad thing?

If Freeman or Fickell get the job, this could actually be good for us as long as they are somewhat successful. If we believe the thought that Ohio State and ND are the CMC wish list, better to have coaches there who aren’t planning for retirement any time soon.
