Unless Kelly is looking for a new challenge or LSU is offering silly $, the ND job is far better than LSU.
Part of it is Kelly's unique ability to control the majority of his team's schedule. And not having a CCG hasn't seemed to hurt because of their Blue-blood brand.
Just looking for a place to play for his Covid year. Walked with the Srs for the TCU but decided he wasn't ready to hang it up. Not a big deal.
Kinda makes sense if you think about it. He wasn't used that much in a bunch of games.
Bummer, because he's been stuck on 99 career catches for the last 3 weeks. Was hoping he'd have gotten #100 before the end of the year.

They have won 3 National Titles since Notre Dame last won one (1988). Tons of talent in-state/region and you are the only Power 5 school in the state so kids grow up wanting to be a Tiger.
Negatives would be you play in a damn tough division/conference and if things don't go well they will get rid of you pretty quick. At his age (60) though I'd be like fine I will go retire and you can still pay me a fortune for not doing anything.
So, let's say that Kelly leaves for LSU. Would Campbell even be ND's #1 target? I'd think that Fickle would be their primary target.

I'd say Fickell but if they are in the Playoff the timing might be an issue. ND might be willing to wait for him though.
I can't imagine we get through this cycle and Fickell is still the coach at Cincinnati. They can negotiate through an agent if needed. Unless you're getting things done by signing day, I don't see a big difference that a couple weeks would make until after the playoffs.
