Meh, the shirt was bound to end up destroyed, anyway. Maybe spectacularly in a methlab explosion, maybe mundanely after falling asleep while smoking a Marlboro, or maybe just ripped from the wearers body and pulled into a spinning PTO shaft. It didn't have a chance. The owner was better to do it on his own terms.

Losing Woody and Gessellle is so sad. Now there's a chance to lose Mad Frannypants? NO!

And I really don't want Jamie Dixon in the conference either.

Jamie Dixon is a better coach than Fran and they are getting restless with him. Pitt would not want Fran.

Don't disagree Pitt has traditionally been a good recruiting destination and is in the ACC I am guessing they'll aim higher afterall Dixon main issue with the fans isn't getting into the tournament but actually winning games after getting there. It would be a difficult sell with a mid 50's Fran with his current March record (Big 10 tourney and NCAA) to name him the coach.

Fran could get a look though. Pitt isn't as good of a job as it was 10 years ago, they are looking up to the ACC blue blood powers, lack the national exposure even with the conference affiliation and in a competive area for recruiting. I am not sure what optioins they will have available to them. Something like the UCLA settling for Alford after Howland scenerio could occur if Dixon leaves (afterall there is a reason Jamie is looking at TCU himself)

I wonder if Howland would be interested in going back to Pitt if the job opened up? No doubt it's a big step up from Miss St.

What did I miss with Jok? He had a fine season, but it's not the type of season you leave after.

I think a reporter just asked him if he thought about it and he said he would talk to the staff or something along those lines. If he's going to leave it will be to transfer out or to go overseas. He's not going to get invited to the combine to test the waters or anything like that and I'm sure he knows that.

Perhaps he looks around at what's coming back and realized that his stock will not get higher with an NIT at best team? And he had a decent year, but he's not ever going to be more than a spot up shooter.

Also terrible in post-game interviews and throwing his own players under the bus. But other than that, just like a Phil Jackson/Greg Poppovich.

And being the Anton Scallia of timeouts and general lack of x-and-o playcalling late in games.

I do not disagree with you, but with Fran being from that area, I think he'll at least get a look. Now, whether or not he'd leave, or they'd hire him, I'm not sure. But, if there is interest on either side, I bet it'll be explored at least.

This gets a like from me based mostly on the PTO shaft reference.

Sorry that I bailed on this thread yesterday! I reset my phone and for the life of me, I couldn't find it back. Turns it it wasn't on the rivals page like I thought it was, or it moved on me.

Regardless...
Jok is weighing his options. The guy came from the Sudan, so even if he could go make some coin overseas, I can see him taking that chance and bailing.

In regards to Fran, if Dixon leaves Pitt (which is where Fran is from..ish) for TCU, and the Pitt job comes open, I think there is some possibility that Fran leaves. His son has one year left of high school here, so either this off season, or next, is when he'd leave, if he does.
The real question though, is if Fran leaves, do we lose a few of the recruits that we have coming in? I know it isn't a huge class, but Tyler Cook appears to be one of the best recruits we have had come our way in quite awhile. I'd hate to see him turn that around if Fran left.

And yes, next year will be tough, but I think it will be entertaining. We won't run any real "5" guy, and our starters will be what, 6'5" or bigger, unless that incoming freshman, Bohannon, plays right away. So, we'll have some length, I bet we press a lot, and I bet we run a lot, more like last year than this year. So, while I expect to not be playing in the big tournament next March, I believe we will make strides forward.

And if Fran leaves, hopefully we get someone relatively competent...

If Fran Leaves..Cook would not come..I think that much u can be assured. He choose Iowa specifically because of his long relationship with Fran. Prob go to Pitt if that happened. Frans son woild obviously follow. Iowa would be in bad trouble for several years IMO..only saving grace would be grabbing a Underwood type coach..So I hope he stays...My guess if it did happen is Iowa would go hard after Ben Jacobsen. Style fits.

He wouldn't take a job like Iowa. If Iowa opened up I'm guessing they'd go after a mid major assistant or something comparable. I'm sure Steve Bergman would be a candidate to keep up the recruiting trend

Iowa is in a much better position now than they were post lick. Whether or not you want to admit that.
