Should think about going back to Tom Davis. He's the best they've had and the best they're going to get.
Fran emphasized locking down the border and made two straight NCAA Tournament's because of it. I would think Barta would want to continue that strategy. Jeff Horner could be another possible candidate.
Making three straight ncaa appearances is ISU level expectations. Iowa fans want more.
The next step will be getting a team that can actually compete after round 1....
Alford and McCaffrey might have helped them raise more money, but Davis loved Iowa. Probably wanted to retire from there. They may as well go for him. They're never going to do any better than losing in the second round anyway.
Dr. Tom basically retired in the mid 90's anyway. The man never let recruiting get in the way of a tee time.
