So Minnesota and Iowa have Law and Medicine. How many of those ******** who tease ISU about academics are enrolled in the law or medicine programs?
Iowa and Iowa State (and UNI) have the same academic standards for admission to the school set by the board of regents, so if any Iowa fan tries to say otherwise then just laugh at them. I have no idea what Minnesota's academics are like, but I'm guessing they're no Michigan.

Unless you're a school like Vanderbilt or Stanford, if you're trying to argue academics then it probably means you're butthurt about losing a recruit.

Minnesota reminds me of Illinois. Two schools that are relatively close that I completely forget exist until ISU beats them out for some in state recruit and their fanbase/alumni lose their goddamn minds.

Illinois is a much better program with a much better history than the Univ of Minnesota. That school and it’s fans are a joke.

I don't know, he was pretty dominate and efficient. #1 on barttorvik player ratings for the past 2 years. I hate Iowa as much as anyone, but he's definitely in the conversation for the best player to ever play college basketball in Iowa.

I agree. If I were to make a top 5, there's no question that he would be in it. Very nice college player. Probably not the most talented overall in terms of what the pros look for, but dominant at this level.

Don't care. He's slow as ****, can't drive to the basket, and can't play defense. He also can't win the big games. Well, there is that win over Grand Canyon.

The Minnesotans making fun of ISU/Ames would be funny if this were a rarer belief. Ames isn’t Minneapolis, but it’s college town with the amenities a college town of 70,000 people has. Some people prefer that, including myself.

And then, of course, there’s the academic slights, which is belief you’ll find in Eastern Iowa as well. The only differences between ISU and Minnesota are that ISU’s mission doesn’t include med and law, and Iowa public colleges don’t send lower scoring local students to satellite campuses. And despite lacking all the money, research and prestige that comes with a med school, ISU is one of only a handful of non-med school universities in the AAU. We’re a very high research output university, and have to be to maintain our AAU status. On a pound for pound basis, I’m 99% certain we produce more research than UM and Iowa. The differences between ISU and Iowa are more structural, but the quality is again essentially the same. It’s unfortunate that ignorance might keep good students from considering ISU.

The quality of school thing between these state schools is just so freaking overblown. I don't hire people but if it came down to two candidates and one went to ISU and the other Minnesota, or Nebraska, etc. it would be a non-factor to me.

He was a phenomenal college basketball player. Nobody should take that away from him and he deserved the player of the year award this year. Honestly probably should have won it last year.

Best overall player? No way, not even close. Tyrese might win Rookie of the Year in the NBA this year for goodness sake.

Lipseys knee is better than before the injury. Did you see his football highlights? And a basketball season plus state tournament no problem. Now he's doing track and field.

Iowa's own fans think Garza is the best player to ever play in the STATE of iowa.
He might have been but Iowa sure didn’t do anything with him! Poor coaching is all that can be said about that! Also his teammates relied on him to much and stood around and watched him play!

FIFY. I’ve seen more than one autocorrect get this one wrong lately.

Sorry, it bugs me. Like “compliment” and complement”.
