***2026 NCAA MBB coaching carousel***

No clue what TJ truly wants, but UNC is a better job and can throw a crazy dollar amount at a coach. What gives me hope, which differs from Campbell is I think you can truly win an NCAA championship here in basketball, and actually believe he is more built for the Griddy type school/ team that might not work there. Similar to Hurley turning down the Lakers.

I don't know if he is the leading candidate for UNC or not but I remember seeing a lot of similar type posts about Matt Campbell as well. I could be wrong but if TJ does indeed get offered the UNC job (don't think he will) my guess is he will probably take it.
With Campbell there was a general consensus that he might take a top Midwest job. I haven’t heard that about Ozt.

ISU is right in his sweet spot of having enough money and brand to get recruits and transfers who are skilled but who will still play with a chip on their shoulder.

You aren’t getting 20 million dollar rosters to play like this team does.

I bet TJ would take a 20 million dollar roster right now at Iowa State if he could and in HIS mind he would get them to play that way.

Well, he might as well go ahead and win the National Championship this year! :)

Please somebody talk me off the ledge and reassure me that T.J. isn't going to be the next North Carolina coach.

This is just more evidence the big spenders are not actually better jobs. Notice that Kentucky, UNC, and other big spenders struggle. They have unrealistic fans, boosters that interfere, and don’t have the cache they used to.

Go look at the lists of names everyone is putting out there. This is a blue blood. I love TJ and he’s a great coach but this program is whale hunting

UNC head coach Fred Hoiberg, now that Nebraska won a few Tourney games, he would be ideal to coach UNC!

No inside info, just trying to stop a jumper.

Us fans might think that way but most basketball coaches don't. If they are offered one of those jobs a very high percentage of them will take it. Coaches by nature think they will "fix the problem" and overcome any "obstacle". Especially with the type of resources they will have.

Yea was just on ESPN. The first guys they mention are NBA guys like Billy Donovan and Brad Stevens. They also mention Dan Hurley.

TJ is brought up with other top college coaches with TJ's available at the lowest buyout- $3M. Whereas a lot of top college coaches like Golden, Oats, Mays have buyouts over $10M.

It’s UNC. 10 million is nothing when you are them. It’s one of the wealthiest universities in the country
