Ky, Kansas, and Ku might be open. Teams are going to throw money at TJ. I really hope Jaime has a plan here. We are talking 3 of the best jobs in the profession here. Going to be some sleepless nights the next few weeks on this board.

If it makes you feel better, he'll introduce the new coach before the news even breaks that TJ has left...

No if Self is highest published paid at 8.8 and NC goes in that range and targets Otz. How high are we capable of going to atleast make it
More competitive with the other things we offer he values? Can we to 6 might need to, maybe cheaper fb Coach helps.

I don’t think it’s about money. It’s about coaching where some of the greatest players ever have played, coaching with a ton more NIL. TJ also has like a very low buyout which sucks. Think Jamie needs to start making the buyouts higher with our coaches.

He has no leverage when other schools can triple your NIL commitment

WI doesn’t have any more money than ISU
I'm just implying the state of Wisconsin connection.

Honestly don't see him even considering leaving unless he's truly pissed about our NIL situation, which I don't think he's at that point.

Campbell at least had a list of schools that we knew he would hear out, I don't see that with TJ.

I have a hard time seeing TJ's coaching style getting the same level of buy-in with a bunch of 5 stars at UNC.
I see this theme a lot. Where does it come from?

In any given recruiting class, at any given year of eligibility, there are 2 star talents, 3 star talents, 4, star talents, 5 star talents, guys with no talent, guys with phenom talent, etc.

Every single group has the same relative distribution/percentage of "players that want to play hard and be coached hard".

I see this weird ideology with our fans at various times, in different sports, and it always follows a pattern like...

"Give me the 3 star kid that is a grinder over the 5 star kid any day!"

LOL!

I think it's supposed to make us feel gritty and like we're "doing it the right way" or whatever. Like - we don't need your fancy money type of thing.

I hate to break it to y'all but the best teams and programs historically have 4 star and 5 star guys that also play really f*cking hard, are also great kids, are also great culture guys, and work hard daily literally just as hard as TJ demands. That's why they win a lot.

TJ wants 4 and 5 star talents. And when he gets them, you can bet your ass that they will play to his standard.

Not all 5 star athletes are lazy and self centered. And I imagine TJ would stop recruiting them if he sensed that after meeting them.

I agree JP needs to have higher buyouts in our coaches contracts. Said that when Campbell left. It might not deter some programs from buying our coaches, but it would put us in a better position to hire new coaches and help our programs financially.

Jamie can't unilaterally impose that and you artificially shrink your pool with that tactic.

What leverage does Jamie have in contract negotiations? We are getting incredible bang for our buck for coaches.

"TJ, we are willing to extend your contract but only if you accept the term of a $15m buyout being attached."

"So you are paying me below the market AND I don't have the roster money of the teams you expect me to compete against AND I'm stuck with a terrible buyout. Its been real but it turns out plenty of other schools want my services for a better check, better roster money, and a lower buyout."
