He wasn't good enough to play last season. He might be this upcoming season, but not at that price tag. I don't know how much Bateman or any of the freshmen are getting, but it isn't a million.

Feel like this is more an indicator of the NIL market. A rising tide floats all boats. There's enough money out there between the House Settlement and NIL Collectives that schools are willing to pay $1M for average post players (Jackson) and young potential (Nojus).
Will follow both guys to see their production next season. In Nojus' situation, his leaving ISU could be an indictment of the current system where there is no time to develop players at the elite P5 level in hoops. Need to re-load vs. re-build. Just the reality.
And Pitt's a program in a position to take chances to re-build to re-load down the line.

I'm curious about a detail, (perhaps the report addresses it): Pre-2019, with sit-out rules and number of transfers not nearly as high, was the percentage similar?
It's more noticeable if it's "high-volume."
Transfering down is ok. That get's some kids on the level they should be playing at and can get playing time. The problem are the kids who don't find a new home and are just done for good. Usually those are the mid major types who think they are better than they are and by the time it's all said and done, nobody wanted them.
This doesn't identify individual schools. I wonder who the two highest spenders (upper right) with good success are (Duke, UCONN?)? Better to be them than the next two highest spenders who still ended up left side of the bubble line.

TJ's teams have been better than a sum of their parts, and even if he was skilled at the offensive end, creating a weakness in the defense would have outweighed it. Sad, because I think he will be really, really good in the right system, but I understand.
Has that 1 million ever been confirmed? That just shocks me if true. If we gave a million dollars to a transfer like Nojus this board would explode and rightfully so
I hate to revisit this, but the Cujo not touching an NBA roster is such a bad take. Between the stats that he's throwing out at Portsmouth and the recent info that has come across my desk (which isn't my news to break but will come out soon) NBA decision makers have some different opinions.
Who cares people make the wrong choice all the time. Once they enter the portal I don't care if they get more money less money get a degree or end up a crack wh*re on the street. Once they leave ISU so be it, they are someone else's person to hope and cheer for. Out of the kids that transferred this yr the only one I'll miss is Kelsey Jones.
I think Curtis absolutely has a shot at the NBA. He may need to work on his handle a bit but at 6’4 195 he has the frame for the NBA. Being 23 may keep him from getting drafted but it won’t keep him from getting a shot

A lot of kids that don’t find a home were transferring because they’re getting culled. That hasn’t changed with NIL.
If anything, older guys you used to know were just deep bench guys but would retain, are now pushed out so you have room for rotation lottery tickets in freshmen…because you don’t have the salary to fill out the rotation with upperclassmen.
Watson and Fish are going to push a midmajor guy down. And places like Iowa St may not earnestly fill all 13 spots to save money
There’s a high school class coming in every year. Not all of those guys are going to pan out as college players, and as their intrinsic value decreases, will need to transfer down, if they’re lucky, so room can be made for the next class of unknowns
K state losing CJ Jones today, they now have 3 returning players. The next month in the portal is going to be wild, so many teams need players.
K State has money. They gave whats his name 2 million. The heck are they spending their money on this year. Tang does not go for fit. he goes for the flashy guy. Which won't ever work that well.
3 returning players isn't that bad. We only returned 4 two years ago (Lipsey, Rob Jones, Kind and Ward) and got better. We only return 4 next year (Lipsey, Heise, Momcilovic and Jefferson. They better hope their transfers pan out though.
The market is much different than it was two years ago and there are still a ton of teams with spots to fill.
