***2025 PGA Tour Thread***

Well it’s very clearly different since the match had started, but I don’t know what happens.
Listen... I understand it's the rule... and you play by the rules... doesn't mean it's a good rule. You think it's good or not?

Remember.. the Euros wouldn't have even had to show up to play at all today then to take home the cup... according to this rule.

If your golfer can’t play you lose. Going forward there needs to be a couple reserves to avoid this. They rewarded a golfer points for being hurt. All of Europe could have been “hurt” today and won by halves.

It’s possible the Euros were gassed today they did have two hyper intense days the last two.

You don’t want to fall in the oh we’ll get one here and there and it will be enough but it’s exactly what happened..

I’m indifferent, it didn’t affect the outcome, from what I can tell the one time it did the US won because of it.

Your second part is technically true, but notice they didn’t do that, and I don’t see a world where that would ever happen. I think for now the people involved still have a healthy respect for the game even if most of the fans don’t.

Four years ago, the USA won 19-9. Europe evaluated what they were doing and made changes. They have since won both Ryder Cups, and without a furious American charge today, won both convincingly. Team USA needs to self evaluate and figure out what it will take to win. Being down 4-0 out of the gate in 2023 and a lip out from being down 4-0 this time HAS to change. Can't just continue doing the same thing and expect different results.

Disappointed the US got into such a hole before making a run. However, the fact that we kept alive so long yesterday was great theatre. I was at Hy-Vee and had my phone on propped up in my shopping cart because I couldn't miss a shot.

Never fun to lose especially at home when you gotta wait 4 years to host again, however as a whole it was a big win for me. This was the first time I've actually watched and been 100% all in every shot, discussing strategy, commenting on pairings, pretending I know more golf that I do ect. I can't remember having more fun watching golf win/lose other than maybe in 2019 when Tiger made his run at Augusta. I love how much the players care about this, how much they care about each other, and all the crowd interaction. I used to think this was a glorified exhibition, but had no idea how big of a deal it was.

These guys want to beat each other so badly, but I also love seeing the sportsmanship after a match. Just great for the game of golf that we all love. Hope the US makes some tweaks and analyzes what went wrong.

The Ryder Cup is golf at its best

Neither team is EVER going to declare they're all injured. That's ridiculous. The golfers on both sides obviously take the Ryder Cup seriously, but also still treat each other with respect. Maybe alternates are added in the future, but I really doubt anyone in professional golf thinks it's that important.

Feel like this weekend was when I fully realized that. All three days felt like a Sunday at a major.

Two things to ask/comment on :

1. Why if 14-14, the previous winner retains? Wouldn't it be amazing theatre for the captains to each pick a guy for a one hole playoff?

2. They gotta do something different for injuries. Like either have a 13th alternate ect.

Golf is hard. Pro golfers are elite. A-hole behavior by “fans” at the Ryder Cup toward the European team was beyond disgusting.
I saw an article this morning that the MC on the first hole started an F U Rory chant. That's terrible to have someone associated with the event leading that crap. People are getting carried away with Happy Gilmore and treating actual golf like the movie. The Waste Management Open used to look fun but it looks pretty out of control now. Ryder Cup seems to be trending that way and it is apparently endorsed by the US organizers. I can't think of any other sport that treats competitors like that.

Yeah that's gross

I don't think she started it but joined in with it.

Of course there's a clip of her joining in so she was done.

I believe she is a comedian/actor (Heather McMahan - had to look it up). Seems like a random person, but maybe she's affiliated with golf in some fashion.

What I read said she started a DE SHAM BO chant and it went on for a bit and got drowned out eventually by the F Rory one.

This one made it sounds like she started it, but either way she needs to go for participating.

I believe the ESPN article about it said someone threw a beer at Rory's wife. I never got why those things are excused because it happens at a sports event.

Add 1 alternate that's a captains pick and then if needed the second alternate is the captain themselves. Change the rule to make it a full point if that still isn't enough. Seems to obvious.
