***2024 Olympics Thread***

I just watched the Women's 100M. I'm not sure if Richardson wins it anyway.

That was dominant.

Cool to see that be St. Lucia's first medal ever.

Richardson had a slow start, otherwise, I think she could have kept pace.

MBB bracket has been drawn:

Tuesday, 8/6
4 a.m. (CT) - #2 Germany (Weiler-Babb) vs #8 Greece
11 a.m. - #3 Canada (Ejim) vs #5 France
7:30 a.m. - #4 Serbia vs #6 Australia
2:30 p.m. - #1 USA (Haliburton) vs #7 Brazil

Thursday, 8/8
TBA - GER/GRE vs CAN/FRA
TBA - SRB/AUS vs USA/BRA

Saturday, 8/10
4 a.m. - Bronze Medal
2:30 p.m. - Gold Medal
So, we could end up with a Cyclone winning a Gold (Haliburton), a Silver (Ejim or Weilar-Babb) and a Bronze medal (Ejim or Weilar-Babb) in MBB. That would be supersweet!

Those male shot putters are big men.
They aren’t toads though. Dudes are athletic which seems different than years ago. Same with women’s field events, these folks sure seem like they could be multi sport athletes.

It was mostly my mom who didn't get it. This is how the conversation went:

"Why doesn't Giannis play for the USA?"

"Because he's Greek."

"But he plays for the Bucks"

"Yeah, but he's a Greek citizen"

"So, LeBron plays for the USA."

"Yeah, because he's American."

I've had quasi-similar convos with someone when they make some remark about some athletes don't 'look' like Americans and I'll leave it at that.

Looks like Jon Rahm is running away with gold in golf

Rough tournament for Canada/Carleton. Lost 79-70 to Nigeria, finished 0-3.

Canada was outscored 23-5 in the 3rd quarter, reminiscent of the 23-2 quarter against France.
