Why does 1 play the 7 and 2 play the 8? Don't love a Serbia rematch. With Jokic anything is possible

Embiid is terrible

It doesn't help that his attitude is not very endearing.

I listened to a long NYT interview with him a few weeks ago and came away liking him less. Compare to someone like say Hakeem with a similar journey who just seems like the greatest guy ever in every interview I've ever heard.

I'm not sold on AD as being the lynchpin of a championship franchise, but on a team full of amazing shooters and scorers he's a pretty ideal player to have around the basket. Same for Bam.

Agree with all of this. Embiid looks slow, out of shape, slow.

Danny Harris from ISU won silver in the men’s 400 meter hurdles that same year.

Harris was a football recruit. With his initial times as a freshman in the 400 hurdles, it was clear that he might be the one to snap Edwin Moses’ years-long winning streak—which was probably the biggest news in track at that time.

I think he was the one to do it, not long before the 1984 Olympics, but finished 2nd to him there.

Nawal El Moutawakel was petite, but obviously fast. I remember her in the Beyer weight room doing situps on the Universal machines—with the board at the steepest incline—quickly—as if running the hurdles.

I thought Danny Harris snapped Edwin Moses’ winning streak before the 1984 Olympics, but it was June 4, 1987. They did finish 1st and 2nd at the 1984 Olympics.

From the NY Times archives:

Edwin Moses' 122-race winning streak, the longest in the history of track, ended today when Danny Harris, another American, beat him in the 400-meter hurdles at an international meet here.

Moses, the world-record holder with a time of 47.02 seconds, last lost on Aug. 26, 1977, in West Berlin, when he was beaten by Harald Schmid of West Germany. …
… It was the first meeting between Moses and Harris since the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, when they finished first and second.

So the streak was a decade long.

The picture of Harris beating Moses was on the front page, lower right.

I believe this article link is accessible:

The only reason I wouldn’t be sold on AD is health. A healthy AD is top 3 players in the league. So good on both ends of the court. But the best ability is availability and boy is that an issue for him.

AD is the second-best big man in the league behind Joker (when healthy). He’s great around the basket, can shoot the 3, and is an above-average post defender. Agreed, his health and passing has held him back from true greatness.
