First two picks of my snake draft were Josh Allen & Taylor and then picked up Olave & Harrison at the end of round 3, start of round 4. Picked up Walker at the end of round 5 and then jumped on Purdy to start round 6. Everyone else went really heavy into RB/WR in the first few rounds, so I felt decent getting Walker at the end of round 5. Ekeler was a late round afterthought. Njoku was one of my last picks (which seemed like a decent value at that point).
Our league does a lot of trading, so I'm hoping to pick up a better WR and 3rd RB option, but I might have to sacrifice Purdy to do it (though I love having two top shelf QB's for matchups and byes).
In an 8 team league I guess I don't see the value of drafting Purdy in the 6th round unless you have to start 2 QB. Unless you have a ton of bench spots he's ranked in about that 10-15 QB range so betting there are decent streaming options out there for a bye week as your waiver wire is probably pretty flush compared to what would be out there in a 10 or 12 team league. Not even sure that Purdy is going to be an upgrade at QB for someone either unless someone gets hurt in that top 10 group. I probably would of passed on Allen in the 1st too and drafted the best WR or RB on the board. I get that QBs rack up points but the gap in points per game from 1-10 at QB vs WR or RB is much less so I guess if it was me I would want to nab a top WR in the 1st round then wait till somewhere in the 3-5 round and nab a QB then which still is probably going to be someone that is a better fantasy option than Purdy like Burrow, Stroud, or Richardson.
Not trying to be negative on your draft, every league is different so maybe you are justified in your strategy based on how scoring is and others tend to draft. In a live draft when you start to see runs on a certain position even I get a little panicked and probably reach for a guy a round sooner than I should in fear that I am going to be in trouble at a position when my next pick is up. Just something I have learned over the years as I used to be that guy that would get Mahomes or back when Aaron Rodgers was the top QB I'd use a 1st or 2nd round on a guy like that thinking he'll make up the points I am missing out by passing on a top WR or RB. What I have learned is that usually is not the case and you watch the guys that waited a few rounds load up on those 2 positions and kill it with a 2nd or 3rd tier QB that may not put up the huge weeks like Allen and Mahomes do but they are consistent nearly every week and isn't quite the point gap at QB as you'll get at other positions. WR and RB are usually what guys want to trade for too so if you draft well that extra guy on your bench is going to be worth more in a trade than your backup QB is.
