I have no issue with the location either (*Pasadena is more beautiful than Arlington*), but the Cotton Bowl is just as big of a game today. Kind of the point that the Rose Bowl is built up to by some kind of mythical game bigger than it really is.Well, it is the biggest game of the entire day. I don't like ESPN either but this seems petty. They already dedicated a bunch of time to USC and Tulane.
Both the Rose and the Cotton are two of the four Historical NYD games, and the match-ups are relatively even with the Rose (#07 Pac Champion vs. #09 3rd best B1G team) and Cotton (#14 AAC Champion vs. #08 Pac Runner-Up). Rose has slightly higher rankings, but Cotton didn't have to dip for a 3rd place team for an opponent).
Both have a nice Parade, but the Cotton Bowl has the Heisman Trophy Winner and the Kilgore Majorettes. Don't forget the Majorettes!
Personally, I find the Cotton Bowl match-up more interesting today. Ironcially, it is a rematch of the 1932 Rose Bowl from the Rose's Golden Era when they matched the Best Team from the West vs. a top team from the East - before the post WWII B1G tie-in.
*Edited to add city names*.
