Is it weird to anyone else that this was the first gold for Women's Indoor VB? I would have thought that is something the USA dominates.
Without looking it up, I feel like it’s a sport that would be dominated by South and Central America maybe? Isn’t Brazil usually a great volleyball country?

I could be wrong but I think there might be professional leagues in some countries. I think they said that during part of one of their matches I watched.

Russia and Turkey are big VBall leagues or at least on the men's side they were talking about them

I think if the Men had their absolute best players play, they could still field two teams and play each other in the finals. But, that probably won't ever happen (having absolute best 10-11 players participate).
Probably true. But if it was USA vs the world they would have a battle. Four of the top ten vote getters for the NBA MVP this year were foreigners.

The Australian Olympic team has six NBA players on their roster and the French have five

Kudos to the Tokyo Olympic organizers for providing a space for very few hiccups with all that's going on, and the athletes from all over for all the work to get there and represent.

I guess I don’t understand Karate even though I’m well versed in the Karate Kid movies (as well as the Netflix series). Looked clean to me. Pretty sure Daniel-San would be wearing gold there.

Ended up down the YT rabbit hole and watching Michael Johnson's '96 200 and 400 and then Bolt's record races.

Forgot how much of a machine Johnson was and just what a raw force of nature Bolt was.
