Adebayo? I don't watch much NBA but I know he's a pretty skilled big man. He looks anything but tonight

I don't watch a lot either. I'm just going off of tonight. Several fumbles and a couple of dropped passes. He's also had the ball stuffed back in his face more than once.

Holy crap, spread for that one pregame was 13.5. Some people won/lost a lot of money on that KD dunk

We have passed the first big test. It's more and more likely to be the USA vs Slovenia final.

For 5 straight Olympics USA has defeated Spain in the MBB tournament (2004 QF, 2008 F, 2012 F, 2016 QF, 2021 QF). USA is Spain's kryptonite.

While I know it’s not the case, it feels like Rapinoe has been on the team since the 1990s

This is a team whose core has gotten old and has seen so much success over the years that it just feels like the hunger isn’t there like it used to be (and Julie Foudy has made kinder versions of these statements - notably she hasn’t seen a US Women’s team play so passively before). It really is time for the next generation.
I think you are neglecting an important piece that is significant. Historically Women's soccer in the United States greatly benefited from the "first mover" advantage that was enjoyed due to women's athletics in general in the United States. There has been a long wind up for other countries relative to the US. The international commitment has drastically improved and as a consequence we have seen many countries improve radically. I suspect that while US Women will be at the top of international competition the world is closing in on making things much more competitive.
