2019 Coaching Carousel

Well Holgerson and professional are two words that really don't go well together. I'd be glad if that yahoo went to a different conference.
But he does believe fans and professional go well together, just not in ames.

You don't think Kliff could find a HC job? I guess i'd be surprised if he took an OC job unless it was at a powerhouse. I could see him take some sort of NFL position too. Not that I think he'd do well, but I could see him landing there.

I'm gonna go ahead and pencil in Mack Brown as the next coach of UNC. Sounds like its a done deal according to "sources". That makes 2 previously unemployed (by a university) coaches making their triumphant return.

Rumors:
Eric Bienemy leaves the Chiefs (current O-Coord) to be the head coach at his alma mater Colorado.

Kliff gets hired by the Chiefs to be the OC and coach Patrick Mahomes. Use that as a stepping stone to get a pro head coaching gig in a couple years.

I don't think Kliff is a P5 head coach. And I don't think he is even a P5 caliber OC. He just doesn't seem to have a strategic thought, ever. His plan is 100% let-it-fly, always. A good OC knows when to slow it down to take a Kliff-type coached team out of sync, and let your D rest. But I continue to think he'd be a great QB's coach at any level.

I’d hold off on saying their returns are “triumphant“ until they actually win some games.

Accurate.

I was trying to think, are there any examples of coaches near the end of their career that have gone from working at top tier schools to lesser ones (as is the case with Kansas and UNC football) and succeeded?

None were coming to mind.
