2018 Cap City League

There are a lot of different personalities on the team. Not everybody is going to express themselves in the same way. Naz never smiled on the court during his first summer because he was focused on playing defense and making life miserable for the guy he was guarding.

Early reports seem to indicate the overall chemistry of the team is already better than last year and the team is growing closer. It is good for a team to have different personalities during a long season to either amp up or release the pressure during a long year. Ejim was an intense personality that demanded the team to focus when they were getting lose, Niang was able to relax the locker room with humor. Both are all time Cyclones and were a great balance the two years they played.

I just came across the Daily recap of last night if anyone is interested. THT almost had a triple double on a night were he looked tired is impressive.

I always think the body language critiques are hilarious during the season but even more so in Cap City League. It’s like the Wimbledon announcers who think the player who fist pumps the most will win. If that’s all it takes, I might as well hit the tennis circuit.

Especially teenagers, like they aren’t moody at all.

My two cents:
- Conditt has surprised me the most. He is thin but not nearly as skinny as he looked on his high school tapes. Super long arms. Good looking outside shot, disruptive on D, but had a little trouble last night with McGlynn from Drake who is pretty physical in the paint. He will help us some this year and definitely down the road.
- Haliburton, Conditt and THT have engaging personalities that fans will take to. Haliburton is always smiling, and all the guys give Conditt crap which he seems to find amusing and flips it right back at them. That give and take was mostly missing last year IMO.
- Talley was gone last night but I think from what I've seen thus far he has improved alot. That, along with being very competitive and a senior with experience, will make him a valuable piece for us this year. He seems to get along well with the new/young guys as well.

Haliburton- He reminds of me a ball hawking defensive back. He is always around the ball and getting hands on it. He talks a lot and was smiling most of the time. Has 0 muscle on him. Like idk if I have ever seen someone that skinny. If he doesn't redshirt then I have no idea what it takes to redshirt anymore because it would benefit everyone!

Monte Morris is a God around here and he played as a Fr 6'2" 160 lb PG with a 6'4" wingspan. If you don't think Haliburton can play I dont know what to tell you. Do you understand how hard it is to put bulk on a 7' wingspan when the kid is only 6'5"? Enough with the football recruiting mindset for basketball

Not once said the kid can't play. He definitely is skilled. Those are the players you want to redshirt, the ones who have great skill but no weight to them. I would put money on it that Haliburton weighs less than Monte did as a freshman and he is 3 to four inches taller.

False both were listed at 160 as Fr and Monte only weighs 175 now. How much muscle tone does Trae Young have? Answer 0. Combine measurements said he weighs 177 he is the weakest 177 pounder of all time cause he has 0 definition

Here's my question... Have you even seen Haliburton in person yet?

Unless we deal with some injuries this season itd be in Haliburtons best interest to RS and add 15-25 pounds of muscle to his frame. His potential is through the roof with that length. Same could be said for Coditt. If they can make a significant impact this year however you play them.

You dont redshirt basketball players. So he puts in all this work in our weight room only to transfer later or potentially transfer later? No thanks. He has the ability to play now, weight is no factor for a PG with his height, reach and athletic ability

I saw somewhere Monte actually showed up to campus at 148#.

Haliburton isn’t going to play more than 5 min/game this year unless we have injuries.

Probably the same for Conditt.

I don't care to speculate on what's best for whom, but I've never understood the redshirt logic. If you're going to get end of bench minutes as a freshman, it's logical to embrace the redshirt. 1. It can be burned later, 2. Eligibility burns the same no matter when you take the redshirt. 3. If you don't transfer, you end up with a max of three productive years, instead of four.

And if you're not at the end of the bench, then you're playing a role and obviously wouldn't.

So...you’re ignoring all of the teams that redshirt basketball players?

Who does that? I’d be curious if you could name more than 5 players that redshirted last year without looking it up. (Obviously not transfer or medical.)

It’s smart to save your redshirt for a transfer.
