2016 Rio Summer Olympics

Think about all the people doping that aren't caught though. I've always said unless you can pretty much catch everyone doping I'm not ever going to judge people who do get caught.

It's like the whole baseball thing. Who wasn't juicing during the steroid era.

Good point. There's a lot of athlete's who aren't doping to "get ripped" or stronger. Some of them are doping to help recovery from injury, so they think it's just medicine.

I don't agree with those athletes, but I can see where they're coming from.

True. In peak allergy seasons I use a nasal spray and a nebulizer to keep asthma under control. Both have steroid components. I wonder if those show up on drug tests?

I'm pretty sure there have been athletes who have been popped on drug tests for over the counter meds. There's a ton of stuff they can't use because of the tests and they have to watch EVERYTHING they put into their bodies like a hawk.

And they know that but still many claim ignorance when they get caught.

How many people with allergies accidentally eat something they are allergic to. Generally that is one thing with a simple name. They have how many things with complicated scientific names. Plus there are issues with things being added and then the athlete gets popped.

Valid point. But the athlete is ultimately responsible for what goes into their body. If they are unsure, they should be checking to make sure that whatever they are taking is clean. To not do so is negligence, not ignorance.

Watching Argentina and Spain play in basketball is another reminder as to why soccer chants don't work in basketball or football. Their chants just turn into white noise and it's the same whether Argentina is on offense or defense. Blindly chanting just to make noise does not work in games when there are situations, momentum swings, etc.

That Brazilian dude cleared the bar with ease in the pole vault to get the gold.

FWIW; the dancing hurdler will run at about 9amCT this morning.

Great finish to the woman's 400. In the photo finishes, what determines the end line?

The red vertical lines represent the finish line vs. the time listed along the bottom. So this shows the winner was .06 seconds ahead.

Thought they said the winning time was 49.44. I don't understand where the finish line is here. I know it's supposed to be whenever the first part of the torso breaks the line but not sure where the finish line is.
