2/22-24 Winter Weather Thread

Vehicle high drifts in town. City plows getting stuck. City loader turning around and giving up. Neighbor boys are getting abandoned. Even in town, northern Iowa isn’t good.

What's the point of shoveling the driveway if the wind will bring it back? Probably will hold off for a while.

Damn. I can remember issues with freezing rain/ice when I lived in Ames, but can't remember I-35 being shut down for half of the state.

It’s happened a few times before - it’s why they have those gates and signs/lights at the Ames exit.

It happens every once in a while. The National Weather Service has been on this for a week, basically saying that while there might not be a ton of snow with this system that today was going to be really, really bad.

This entire winter has been mother nature raising the ante on what is miserable.

Renter's kid has the driveway blown out (not that I am going anywhere today). Got a chance of making my doctor's appt tomorrow.

Ankeny Centennial with 11 bus loads of kids stuck in Minny/St Paul area. They left on Fri. for show choir competition all day Sat. Just plain stupid the district let them go. Just heard from my daughter they will be staying again tonight, so put $ in her debit card account. Glad they are safe, but will be glad when their season is over. Next month they compete in Orlando,FL. Between the time committment and $, its more than the travel softball team ever was. Two 1sts and 2 3rds, so the they had great success.

Don't forget to feed the birds. This is tough on them.

This is true. We've had 4-6 Blue Jays and at least as many Cardinals and some wood peckers. Except we've got a darn squirrel who found the free seeds to it's liking as well.

When ever and if ever we warm up which may not happen in late April, with all the snow and moisture, how will that affect spring summer thunderstorms and will the be stronger with moisture and a lot in the ground?
